Vice President Mike Pence said Thursday he is “inclined more than ever” to believe retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn did not intentionally mislead him about his conversations with a Russian envoy, which was a reason cited by President Trump for asking him to resign as national security adviser in early 2017.
He made the comments after the FBI records released on Thursday have been touted by Flynn's lawyer, Sidney Powell, as exculpatory evidence heretofore concealed from the defense team. They show that now-fired FBI agent Peter Strzok and others in the FBI’s leadership stopped the bureau from closing its investigation into Flynn in early January 2017 after investigators had uncovered “no derogatory information” on him. Emails from later that month show Strzok, along with then-FBI lawyer Lisa Page and several others, sought out ways to continue investigating Flynn.
“I think Gen. Michael Flynn is a patriotic American who served with great distinction (blah blah blah). And I’m deeply troubled by the revelations (blah blah blah) — and we are going to continue to look into that very carefully. But my respect for Gen. Flynn personally, for his service to the country, is undiminished,” Pence told reporters. “And I’m inclined more than ever to believe that what he communicated to me back during the transition leading to our inauguration was unintentional and that he was not attempting to misrepresent facts."

The vice president’s comments about Flynn on Thursday stand in contrast to those he made in December 2017, when CBS’s Margaret Brennan asked: “When he was fired, did you know he had lied to the FBI?”
Pence answered: “What I can tell you is I knew he lied to me. And I know the president made the right decision with regard to him.”

That "lying to VP Pence" if not THE reason that Trump lost faith in Gen. Flynn, it definitely was a major one.
Pence is now cuhoa (cover up his own @ss), either he is too naive, or he doesn't want to admit he's been used.

It’s hard for me to forget that it was Pence who pushed Dan Coats for Director of National Intelligence, a position where he quickly fell asleep at x 2 years.

Need to remember too that the DC elite like Obama thought Trump was stupid and could be easily played. They were, and still are, so wrong about that.
Pence was very quick to turn on Flynn. I haven’t trusted Pence since.
Trump should replace Pence with Flynn as VP.
I honestly believe Flynn was fired for other reasons, and this “Flynn lied to Pence” story was the farce they constructed (Trump was probably complicit in it) to get it done with the least political damage.
Wasn’t it Sally Yates, serving as acting AG, who told McGahn that what VP Pence was saying publicly was incorrect, which then led to the Flynn lied charge which got him fired.
Big time set up.
Pence is a good Veep, but far to weak and squishy to ever be president. I see him as a go along, to get along kind of guy.
I hope Trump places Flynn into high-level position in the Defense or intelligence community.
Trump should put Flynn in charge of cleaning up the DC sewer. Th should be in charge of SWAT teams to pursue those who abused their power to frame him. Make him Director of Revenge.

He was part of the Bush League Republican House leadership team of Boehner, Cantor, Ryan and McCarthy before he was IN Governor.
You are right. Pence, at this point, does not get my automatic vote after 2024.

The outgoing administration and their deep state allies set up a wedge to play Flynn against Pence that forced Trump to choose between his vice president and his national security advisor very early on in the administration and with (now clearly demonstrable) incomplete and false information.
I don’t believe Pence did anything wrong given the circumstances and the information he was able to have available at the time, but he owes a big apology to Flynn for what happened, and I hope the President and Vice President are looking at ways to not just make this right with Flynn, but closing the loop on the abuses and abusers who did this.
Replace Wray with Flynn.
Right or wrong, I have always felt that Pence helped set Flynn up. Despite his “clean evangelical” image, I have never trusted him, don’t trust him and am not sure that I ever will. I hope he is not the successor to Trump in 2024.
I have never liked Pence. He strikes me as weak and compromised. He talks in cliches’ like a politician.
Maybe he thought Trump’s removal was to his benefit.
I’d rather win the election thank you.
