Lockdowns don’t work

...But here’s the thing: there’s no evidence of lockdowns working. If strict lockdowns actually saved lives, I would be all for them, even if they had large economic costs. But, put simply, the scientific and medical case for strict lockdowns is paper-thin.

Before I can explain exactly why lockdowns don’t work, we need to define what “lockdowns” are and, especially, what they are not. I define lockdowns as having three characteristics. First, people are ordered to stay at home or required to provide a reason for movement outside of home. Second, assemblies are limited to a very small (usually single-digit) threshold. Third, many businesses and activities are forced to close, even if they do not technically constitute assemblies and would like to stay open. Stay-at-home orders, low assembly thresholds, and business closures together constitute a lockdown. Without those three features, it’s not a lockdown....

This was the WHO’s position. That after a pandemic had gone global travel bans and restrictions didn’t make a difference.

This is about control.

Why are we listening to third world Communist despots?

Lockdowns do their own damage...

“During a Wednesday press conference, ER doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi of Accelerated Urgent Care told reporters that nationwide lockdown policies are having the reverse impact. The group insists that shutting down the country is not an appropriate reaction to what current data shows about COVID-19, but the measures are instead causing measurable public health issues. The doctors argue that the lockdowns are causing spikes in domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression.”

And this:

https://uncoverdc.com/2020/04/25/ep-23-what-media-short-sighted-governors-are-not-telling-you-about-covid-19/

“With Covid-19, common sense isn’t so common. Thankfully, more doctors are speaking up, pointing out the negative consequences in the actions of well-intended but misguided governors. Dr. Joshua Dopko is one such doctor, but not without backlash: Some have accused him of being a bio-terrorist.

As an emergency department physician, Dr. Dopko believes fear-driven lockdowns that prevent people from going outside will have severe long-term ripple effects, and that governors and high-ranking health professionals appear to be ignoring the inevitable results. In our show today, Dopko discusses the dangers of their actions.

Dr. Dopko also believes there’s danger in pushing down too much on the curve, and that many drastic measures curtailing our freedoms will have no effect on the number of people getting Covid-19. Today’s discussion also includes herd immunity, the role of hydroxychloroquine, and the need to GET OUTSIDE!”

Reduced physical activity.
Reduced fresh air.
Reduced exposure to sunlight.
Diet is affected (what and how much).
Heart stress (panic attacks, financial health employment family and political worries).

Plenty of articles that peoples dreams are being affected by this stress as well as impacting quality and duration of sleep).

People also aren’t getting to see doctors for regular treatment.

WATCH: E.R. Doctors Urge A Reopening: Lockdown Creating Public Health Crisis, Doctors ‘Pressured’ To Add COVID To Death Reports, Quarantining Healthy ‘Never Seen’ Before! Daily Wire ^ | 25 April 20 | Amanda Prestigiacomo Posted on 4/26/2020, 8:01:51 AM by Bruiser 10

During a press conference on Wednesday, California emergency room doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi of Accelerated Urgent Care told reporters that nationwide lockdown policies are not an appropriate reaction to what current data shows about the China-originated novel coronavirus but are instead causing measurable public health issues, like spikes in domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression, and spreading fear to non-COVID-19 related would-be patients that are skipping out on vital health care. “We understand microbiology, we understand immunology, and we want strong immune systems,” Dr. Erickson told reporters, rebuffing inconsistent shelter-in-place orders . “I don’t want to stay in my home and develop a weak immune system, and then come out and get a disease.”

Erickson noted that quarantining the healthy is like nothing he’s seen before. “We decided to keep people at home and isolate them, even though everything we’ve studied about quarantine, typically you quarantine the sick,” he explained. “When someone has measles you quarantine them. We’ve never seen the healthy, where you take those without disease and without symptoms and lock them in your home. So, some of these things from what we’ve studied from immunology and microbiology aren’t really meshing with what we know as people of scientific minds who read this stuff.”

jazminerose: "Because I do this sort of thing, I looked up some definitions, using a disease prevention context.

You cannot *quarantine* healthy people.

You cannot *lockdown* healthy people.

The only word I found that fit our present situation is *internment*.

Thanks to HotHunt for the above great visual!

AUDIO: 13m02s: 26 Apr: 3AW: Luke Grant: “Effects of the lockdown are worse than the virus”: The real dangers of COVID-19 could still be ahead of us
Is it really better to be safe than sorry? A leading UK pathology professor warns us that the ramifications of a country going into lockdown could cause more damage than Coronavirus.
Professor John Lee is a writer for the UK Spectator, a retired professor of pathology and a former NHS consultant and he joined Luke Grant on Australia Overnight to give some perspective on the further reaching effects of COVID-19.
“The trouble with it is that they (government) have erred on the side of better ‘safe than sorry’… it’s a general principle of medicine, that when you’re giving a treatment to people, first do no harm.”

Professor Lee shines light on the fact that nations have overestimated the dangers of, and underestimated the danger of a population going into lockdown.
“The lockdown has side effects. From the economic side effects, from direct health side effects… people aren’t accessing health care, to health problems that were storing up for the future like people not coming in for their cancer screenings, not presenting themselves early enough when they have got chest pains for heart attacks.”

Professor Lee also touches on the murky origins of Coronavirus and if we may ever have a cure for the deadly disease.

They didn't lock down in 1918. They wore masks, and carried on.

I agree. America did not lock down in 1918/19, see above.

When was the last time we locked up healthy people during an epidemic?

This is insane.

In any case, take a look at Steuben County, NY. They could even keep the positives or their contacts at home.

The thesis of the article is that stay-at-home and close all “non-essential” businesses orders do not work but other less restrictive strategies do work. These include everyone wearing masks, no large gatherings, closing schools and centralized quarantine.

Centralized quarantine is one of the programs put into practice in Hong Kong, a densely populated city of 7.5 million which has had very few Covid-19 deaths. This involves putting people who tested positive for Covid-19 but did not need hospitalization into a restricted location until they had tested negative over a period of time. They sometimes used empty hotels for this.

This is the opposite of what Cuomo mandated in New York, with nursing homes required by law to take C-virus patients back after hospitalization and to take new patients without regard to their COVID-19 status. New York City has many empty or near empty hotels and, for sick people had near empty facilities in the Javits Center, the ship Comfort and the Samaritans Purse hospital in Central Park.

Even with all of his seemingly harmful decisions, Cuomo is the darling of the propaganda press in the USA, poised to take over if/when their presumptive Presidential nominee, Joe Biden, falters even more than his Dem handlers and press can cover up
