While I was looking around for something else I stumbled upon this joke that JtE left over 6 years ago:
Janice the American Elder 6 years ago
There was a man stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway, and his car hadn't moved in half-an-hour. Suddenly, someone knocks on his window. He rolls down the window and sees a man standing there next to his car. He asks "So, what's up?"
The standing man says "There was a news alert on the radio. Terrorists have taken all of congress hostage. If they aren't paid ten million dollars, they will throw gasoline on all of the congressmen, and set them on fire. I'm walking from car-to-car getting donations."
The man in the car says, "Wow. How much are most people giving?"
The standing man says "Most are giving about a gallon."
Come on people, were better than that we should all be able to give two gallons these days.
Now if youll excuse me, I have things to do.

In one of their speeches I’m sure the congressmen must have mentioned they felt called upon to serve their country. At the time they just didn’t know in exactly what form that would consist of.
When I got my driving license in 1974 gas was 48 cents a gallon. Cigarettes were 48 cents a pack.
When I got my license gas was 3 gallons for a dollar and you got a free cup and your fluids checked. Oh yes, and trading stamps.
My fluids are just fine, thank you very much.
Failed to mention, attendants checked your tires and cleaned your windshield? These were “The Good Old Days”
cleaned your windshield?
= = = = = = = = =
Ever notice how much LONGER it took to do the windshield if
There was a lady in the front seat?
There was a lady in the front seat that ‘showed a knee’?
AND COMPLETELY clean windshield (do twice to get all of it)
IF
A young lady in mini skirt in front seat?
Everything had its priority!!!! <: <: <:
I used to get an extra tip for changing the air in the tires. Wow! Memories of 1972, and a GIRL attendant was a rare thing.
