The mortality rate for the coronavirus in the US continues to fall as more and more Americans are able to be tested.

12 days ago the US coronavirus mortality rate was 4.06 Today the mortality rate is down to 1.25%!

4.06% March 8 (22 deaths of 541 cases) 3.69% March 9 (26 of 704) 3.01% March 10 (30 of 994) 2.95% March 11 (38 of 1,295) 2.52% March 12 (42 of 1,695) 2.27% March 13 (49 of 2,247) 1.93% March 14 (57 of 2,954) 1.84% March 15 (68 of 3,680) 1.6% March 17 (116 of 7,301) 1.4% March 19 (161 of 11,329) 1.25% March 20 (237 of 18,845)

Yossi Getetner posted a list earlier in the week. Thanks to the fraudulent numbers by the WHO the global economies are in a meltdown.

Ok. Next time your car breaks how about you ask the lawyer how to fix it. Becuase you know the egomaniacal mechanics are the experts. This is a medical issue. This means that physicians who have a minimum of 8 years post collegiate training have studied and dedicated their lives to their art for their entire life.
I guess in your world experts are egomaniacs. Sad

“No, that is not the situation at all. It is pretty easy to keep those types isolated and let the rest of society go on.. “

It has occurred to me how fortunate we are to have Donald Trump as president rather than Hillary Clinton in this crisis. Trump has shown some willingness to let individual states deal with their own situations, although I think he could have done more along these lines. I’m certain Hillary would have long since locked down the entire country and put the Federal government in charge of everything.

If it’s easy to keep those at risk isolated then I hope those states where the pandemic hasn’t taken hold will do so and hang onto their economies as much as possible.

Two universal truths of the previous decade-

1: Jeffry Epstein didn’t kill himself.

2: Coronavirus wasn’t born in a bowl of bat soup.

This is a medical issue.

A respectful F U gas Doc. Epidemiology and the actions taken are a social issue more than a medical issue. MDs all seem to lack common sense. Lord save us from the egomaniacs like you.

Over the length of the illness, the numbers even out. However, the artificial restriction of testing a week or ten days ago means that the death rate is extremely HIGH, rather than trending toward a realistic number, if you use the lag of testing at the beginning to inflate the mortality rate.

This number is important in putting context to the severity of the illness from the virus. At this point, with a brand new virus, the trend in the number (understanding the artificial fluctuations such as increasing testing - now - or suppressed infection identification - which was the case a week ago) is what is needed to understand how bad the virus is or could be.

The mortality rate has been touted as 10 times the flu. Better data, over time, will determine the real mortality rate. But better data means using the best data available on each day.

Yep. I don’t think most people yet understand that going to the grocery is a game of Russian Roulette, and every day that goes by, more bullets are loaded into the cylinder.

And it’s not just the grocery. It’s anywhere, but the grocery is the most likely place for people to lose this new game.

Another Freeper said it kills only a small percentage and they being those wth serious, underlying problems.

If so, then why not only quarantine old people and people with chronic health problems or worse?

Because it might be discrimination?

I bet that would be the answer.

That is an add an angry attack. You seem to be the one enraged. Not me. I have a reasonable analogy and you become unhinged. Step away from the ledge. Fauci says we won’t look like Italy. The numbers are the numbers. Why are you so committed to a death cult?

Yes, I do. In both and all of that.

I will go ahead and state that I do not want my fate to be murdered by the damn Chinese and their stinking WMD, because it’s one Hell of a horrible death.

Thank you for expressing what I failed to say so eloquently.

Pelosi may not be acting intentionally but her and Schumer stopping the stimulus bill is really hurting the economy.

The tactic here is a simple one. When teacher gets hit in the head with a spit ball while her back is turned away from the class the response is to punish the whole class. Our elites are idiotic school marms.....

Not a misscalculation - rather a calculation made on partial and incomplete data.

See my tagline!

According to World coronavirus map, only 9 people died in all of US yesterday outside of New York, where 36 died. The day before, 56 died in New York and around 50 or so in the rest of the country...... So where is the exponential growth?

The US FRA is unknowable based upon current numbers because death comes much faster than the recovery time. So looking at the ratio now or pointless math.

Our best understanding is only from areas where the ChiVi has run its course long enough, without medical system overload. Maybe SK is a good indicator, or another nation?

I don’t understand the obsession with what the “mortality rate” is....My concern is hospitals being overloaded with critical care patients.

There are actually two things here. Life is a risk calculation to put off the inevitable as long as possible, which is why the mortality rate matters. As you point out, the more important factor is the percentage of cases requiring intensive or critical care, a number that isn't published. This is important because it appears that the odds improve by a large factor with proper medical care.

You are ignoring the passage of time. This virus will eventually spread until at least half of our population is infected unless something is done to stop it.

In 2009-10 the Swine Flu infected 60,000,000 Americans. 18,000 or so died. Well over 200,000 were hospitalized.

Fortunately, Swine Flu had a very low fatality rate. We may not be so lucky this time.
