The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office is forming a new "County Gun Team" focused on removing guns from dangerous offenders who don't have a legal right to own a firearm.
The specialized, five-person unit will consist of two crime analysts, two investigators and a dedicated gun violence prosecutor. It will focus on the task of removing guns from dangerous offenders who don't have a legal right to own a firearm.
“It used to be a part-time job of the particularly motivated,” Marisa McKeown, a supervising deputy district attorney overseeing the D.A.’s Crime Strategies Unit, said at a Monday news conference. “It needs to be a full-time job of a team of people.”
McKeown was named founding supervisor of the District Attorney's new Crime Strategies Unit back in August of 2018.
Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez added that she hoped the new initiative would remind the public to report “troubling people” who shouldn’t have access to firearms.

Not mentioned is how many and how well trained and how heavily armored will be the team that actually has to go out and confiscate them for these people who will remain safely ensconced in their marble halled bureaucratic offices.

I assume they don’t mean that this five person team of paper pushers will actually be going door to door and taking the guns. The outcome of that would be entirely predictable. They’d be constantly replacing personnel.
Making sure convicted, violent felons do not have guns is far more efficient than trying to deny guns to convicted, violent felons by restricting gun sales to the general population.
This is a bit like “Project Exile”, which actually cut murder rates significantly.
If done correctly, it could be positive.
Unfortunately, given this is Santa Clara in California, it will probably be done very badly.

So, since it is unconstitutional to force a person who is prohibited from owning a firearm to register them, how will thye know who has them?

Who’s to determine who shouldn’t have access to firearms? A neighbor you don’t get along with? How about a relative you don’t like? These idiots are more dangerous than anything we would find in our own neighborhoods. I’m beginning to look on all of government the same - dangerous to our health!
A person who could make a statement like that should be fired immediately! Someone somewhere is getting paid to sort out the dangerous people from society and they want the public to do their job for them?
