LAS VEGAS Second is the new first for Joe Biden.
After dismal fourth- and fifth-place finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, Biden sounded a victorious note when he took the stage at a union hall here and declared a comeback even though fewer than a 10 percent of the precincts were in and showed him in a distant second to Bernie Sanders.
I know we don't know the final results yet, but I feel really good, Biden said. You put me in a position. You know, the press is ready to declare people dead quickly but we're alive and we're coming back and we're going to win.
At one point, a member of the crowd yelled that the 77-year-old was the comeback kid!
Moments before the speech, Biden campaign manager Greg Schultz said on Twitter that based on our internal data, Biden will come in a strong second tonight in Nevada because of robust turnout among African Americans, caucus-goers older than 65 and those who oppose Medicare for All, Sanders signature plan.
But Bidens declaration was premature, according to Pete Buttigiegs campaign, which projected at one point that the former South Bend, Ind. mayor was in second. Bidens lead, however, grew over Buttigieg as the night wore on.

The comeback old man
Nevada has and South Carolina will greatly help Biden. It has upped the price Bloomberg will have to pay Joe to drop out before Super Tuesday.
Any day with a dry diaper is a victory.
Biden was leading Nevada according to Real Clear Politics ten days ago. He then collapsed to second place. When voters went from name recognition to actual votes, they abandoned Joe Biden.
Joe isn’t running ads in the Super Tuesday states because he’s out of cash. He’s toast.
Bloomberg has endless money, so he can continue despite only having 4,700 votes for his $463 million spent.
“Damn it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a miracle worker!”
He’s never won one, so I’d say yes.
“even though fewer than a 10 percent of the precincts were in”.
Pffft, as someone who actually lives in Nevada and has watched election results here for thirty years, the above means the actual results are still unknown!
10% is NOT enough to “Call” any races.
Here’s what they are not saying.
That 10% is almost certainly JUST the down-town area.
That is also the most liberal/union infested area.
I clearly recall years ago, when the early count said John Ensign was losing badly, the media demanded he concede immediately.
But as the night and the count went on the rest of the state got to have their say too.
In the end John Ensign won.
So I know for certain this early 10% result is, just too early for relevance.
I would like to see Biden regain momentum. Otherwise Bloomberg could end up taking the nomination from Bernie, even if he has fewer committed delegates after the primaries.
If Biden remains viable he’ll take anti-Bernie votes from Bloomie, probably resulting in Sanders having an outright majority of delegates or so close that they wouldn’t dare deprive him of the nomination.
Second place. Otherwise known as first loser.
Remember, we heard how the GOP Senate was going to Investigate Biden after Impeachment?
You were lied to - there is nothing being done.
Biden is protected by Swamp.
.
and they get torched worse than Mondale come November.
BEST ELECTION EVER v2.0
Sanders/Warren is a very dangerous pair.
Lots of of folks will vote for fauxahuntos knowing that she is not the top of the ticket.
This is actually the worst pairing against DJT
Agreed. Some people on FR are scared of Bernie and think he has a good chance to beat Trump. I do not. Bernie will join Goldwater, McGovern, and Mondale in infamy if he is the nominee.
