The DMV (called DPS here in Texas) and the post office have been the two greatest teaching moments for my kids on what it is like when the government controls something.
My kids who are in their teens and twenties are as conservative as I am, no doubt influenced by hours standing in line at dismal government facilities.

Don’t know about illegals but this new REAL ID has a two month waiting period in NJ. Not sure how long you would have to wait if you just went to the DMV without an appointment. Oh and by the way the I’d is required for all air flights, entered into federal buildings,and military bases on Oct 1st 2020.
Complete incompetence in Cuomo’s NYS DMV. American citizens have to wait in long lines for hours thanks to the ill prepared DMV. They should have set up temporary quarters in tents or Quonset huts for the illegals attempting to get drivers licenses. Many are denied as they don’t have proper documents. Of course this is just another way for the RATS to keep in power, get them driver licenses then put them on the voting rolls. The corruption in NYS is outrageous.

Waits at DMV on Staten Island (blue state, bluer city) are short.
they have a very effective queue system and plenty of seating.
I was there recently to get new license.
“Spoke with a DMV clerk the other day. She stated that the illegals come in and don’t speak a word of English so they have all their applications and tests in Espanol. Result? They fail 2, 3, 4 times even though they are taking their tests in Espanol!! I did safely orientation for subcontractors. Many, many Hispanics. A large number of them were illiterate in English and Spanish. I also saw them regularly pulling out their fake drivers license to fill out the paperwork because they couldn’t remember what their assigned names were.
Look for auto insurance rates into the stratosphere and a lot of innocent people being killed and maimed on the roads.
But heck, they are registered to vote now which is what this is all about anyway. The left’s never ending quest for power.

IF the applicant for the driver’s license cannot write or speak or read English——
How will they read the signs on the roads/highways?

I can remember when my ‘Uninsured Motorist” coverage was $1 a month extra on my insurance premiums. NOW-—that Uninsured Motorist coverage represents 37% of my total premiums.
I am driving a car I bought in August 1981 & a truck I bought in April 1986-—so a ‘different car/ruck’ isn’t the reason.
I assume they have to take a Driving Test, not just a Written Test.
Do the Examiners giving the Driving Test speak Spanish?
If not, how do the non English speakers they are Testing follow the driving directions in English?
In 2014, I renewed my concealed weapons permit which at the time was for 3 years. I had to have a new photo taken to do so.
In 2017 I had to renew the permit and this time it was five years as well as my drivers license. Both the permit and drivers license came back with the picture I had submitted in 2014.
What is significant about this is the fact that here in Michigan your drivers license is flagged and if pulled over for a traffic violation, the LEO will know that you have a concealed weapons permit and are likely carrying a weapon.
I don't know if that's a nation wide policy or not.....
Bull... The lines were horrible before the illeagals. I think it’s because we have to register our cars every year... Other states.. boom one time and done. Plus too many people. I guess the illeagals do play a factor though...
