A declaration didn’t need to be said....he made it obvious where the Senate stands. You can be certain Pelosi and the rest understood and did.
How could he do that as long as Pelosi hasn’t delivered the articles? There are procedures and currently as long as Pelosi holds out Trump hasn’t been officially Impeached....their vote means nothing!

Like you I enjoyed his speech very much.....he left no stone unturned and explained it as the Statesman that he is. He was in his element where integrity counts....and as always when he speaks you always learn something you weren’t aware of......And I couldn’t help note his great confidence.....obvious with the President and the entire party backing him he could be nothing less..
Truth be told, it goes back to the Clinton impeachment. I thought at the time it was a very dangerous thing for the Republicans to do, regardless of how repellent Clinton's sex life was. And now, here we are.

Mitch is the one who has kept the Senate in continuous action since Trump was named president, so Trump hasn’t been able to make any recess appointments.
Mitch is the one who has kept Trump from, for example, nominating any truly loyal head of the DoJ.

There is nothing magical or constitutionally required in the delivery process. McConnell is in possession of the Articles of Impeachment, as they were published by the House of Representatives on their official website. McConnell can easily modify the Senate rules so that in the event the House fails to provide Impeachment Managers, the Articles will be read into the Senate's official record. Then Trump's lawyers can present his defense and the Senate can vote, or they could just vote without a defense. While he certainly wants a legitimate trial with House Impeachment Managers, with 51 votes, Mitch can pretty much do as he pleases.

The turtle has become a giant tortoise. Yes. Wonderful to see he and President Trump in sync. That was a big question mark in the beginning.
You remember that Judge from Alabama who wanted to take Sessions’ seat? Well, McConnell fiercely opposed him. Yet Trump’s forces, led by Bannon, were supporting the guy.
Then we suddenly saw Bannon exiled to Europe and leaving the White House staff.
Reading between the lines, I think that was a pact made between McConnell and Trump. And after that we got approval for the massive tax cut, which led to many good things.
Articles of Immpeachment= No Bill.
Articles of Impeachment = Bill of Attainder barred by Article 1, ss 9, clause 3 of The Constitution.
The trial duty of the Senate is not triggered.

Yes I realize McConnell’s breadth of actions/options he can or not do. Yet he’s not going to jump the gun ahead of the process and proceedures this early....especially when the D-Rats are hanging themselves in full view of the audience. Currently Pelosi looks like a fool.

Yet he still has work to do for his deception concerning elections in Mississippi (when colluding with Haley Barbour to elect Thad Cochran). The names of those involved might be forgotten, but the circumstances will forever be remembered.
