I haven't bothered with these witch-hunts, being out of the States for some time now, but now I see the Dummycrats have taken it up a notch and I figured I ought to know something about this in case asked.
I digged and digged and I can't figure out what the heck President Trump is alleged to have done.
I read that he was alleged to have pressured Ukraine on a quid pro quo for some investigations against Dems. But then there's a statement that Trump said "I don't want nothing"
And even if a President tells a foreign government "you don't get money from the USA unless you do something for us" what is the problem?
What should I tell people who ask me? I figure on the simple "It's a witch-hunt. The President broke no laws and the one thing he's accused of doing was denied by a key witness"

There are no grounds. It’s about weakening Trump in next year’s election.
Because democrats are still bitter over Hillary losing and Trump seems to be a serious threat to their way of life (corruption). They needed to come up with any reason whatsoever.

As to number 2, They were so PISSED that all their efforts to bring him down in the primaries didn’t work and that he badly beat Hillary while they all thought it was in the bag already for her, that they are DERANGED with anger and hatred.
Not to mention, that the “DO NOTHING” (except impeachment) Democrat controlled House has NOTHING to show for their tenure in control.
Despite blocking Trump in every way, he is still building the wall, bringing back jobs, bringing back manufacturing, making us energy independent and the biggest exporter of oil and gas in the WORLD!
Keeping coal mines open, causing new steel plants to be built. Cutting regulation, not 2 for 1 like he promised, but 22 to 1 (2018). BEST economy in HISTORY. LOWEST unemployment. highest employment, rising wages, no inflation, record high stock market, rejecting old and making new trade deals, rebuilding our military, oh yeah, the BIGGEST TAX CUT IN HISTORY!
All that off the top of my head. A little Google and you could find a HUNDRED more reasons to reelect Trump.
THAT, my friends is why they are trying to impeach Trump.

They decide who is allowed to tap into the many money laundering schemes that make pols and others rich off tax payer dollars.
Trump stands to expose them all.
Strip them of their power.
Eliminate their corrupt money schemes and expose them to legal jeopardy which could lead to life sentences or the death penalty for sedition and traitorous act. The gallows.
That is why the desperation and all out assault on Trump.
Framing innocent people to ensure their survival is another day at the office for the deep state.

Anyone attempting to investigate corruption by an office holder of the United States government is abusing his power.
Secondly, notwithstanding 700 years of anglo-american common law precedent, anyone receiving a subpoena who applies to the courts to resist the subpoena is guilty of obstruction of Congress.
These concepts are encapsulated by the new legal theory, "The Dodgsonian Imperative" ( named after the famous Oxford don Charles Ludwige Dodson famous in mathematical and logic circles) called Dodgy for short.

What was the expression Joe Biden used? Was it "scum of the earth" or "dregs of society" (or both)?
"obstruction of Congress" can only happen if the president holds up congress during an impeachment procedure. That hasn't happened. This is what they're praying he does. This is the only chance they have on impeachment.
Why are they doing this impeachment? In my opinion because indictments can't be made against witnesses of said impeachment. That would have to be resolved by the supreme court I would imagine
The Demoncrats are trying to impeach President Trump because they cannot beat him in the upcoming 2020 election. It really is that simple.
