Time, and history, will tell if Donald Trump is “better” or “greater” than Abraham Lincoln. But if he is re-empowered in 2020 to actually make great Republican principles work, Trump would be the Lincoln we deserve.

As a university teacher of American politics and American history, I wouldn’t say that Trump is a better president than Lincoln. More useful would be to ask how the principles Lincoln stood for and the policies the Republicans of his era favored can be adapted to the United States of today. After all, it is more than a century and a half after a Democrat and celebrity actor decided to sacrifice his life and career to star before a D.C. audience in actual assassination porn.

Republicans in Congress enacted pro-growth, pro-equality, domestic policy: civil rights for African-Americans, the Morrill Land Grant that subsidized higher education for the children of farmers and workers, fiat money, and the Homestead Act. They have a parallel righteousness to each other.
If President Trump succeeds in reversing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) and restoring the rule of law he will deserve to be on Mount Rushmore.
If Congress charges President Trump with treason for doing his Constitutional duty, he should follow Lincoln’s example and dissolve (and jail) Congress.
It is becoming time to follow the rule of law to the letter in DC, instead of making up rules as the left decides.

Lincoln was a freaking disaster. Closest thing to a dictator and responsible for keeping McClellan in command killing thousands of soldiers needlessly. The pollsters should know that southern sympathizers are not necessarily going to call Lincoln great, and we have MANY such, so that Trump question was basically meaningless.

Lincoln was a disaster.
Lincoln was a very capable individual. A person of fine intellect and keenly focused policies. He was indeed successful, and possessed many admirable personal qualities.
Was he a good President? Not really, no.

I don’t hate Lincoln whatsoever I just think he’s overblown ...compared to Washington and his peer group .....there are things I like about Lincoln especially when compared to Sumner or Stevens or John Brown (say amen)

That’s my take, too.
I’m a Trump supporter, and think Lincoln was one of the greatest Presidents America ever had.
I do not believe that Trump is a greater President then Lincoln. Of course he doesn’t face the same level of threat to the Union that Lincoln faced. Now if the libs in California had gone through with their talk of seceding after Trump won, and he used the military to defeat this insurrection, then he’d be approaching that level. I would have enthusiastically put the uniform back on if I was called out of retirement in such a circumstance.
It might be better to let them go.
