Buried inside a midsummer report for Pete Buttigiegs campaign outlining his own strengths and weaknesses, a few lines crystallized one of the most important developments of the 2020 presidential race: black voters relative lack of interest in the black candidates. They see potential in her, Buttigiegs pollster wrote about Kamala Harris, after interviewing groups of black voters but do worry that America wont elect a black woman. And for many, Harris June debate criticism of Joe Biden on racial issues did not feel sincere.

Yeah, the mental image of a young Kamala gleefully getting her tonsils greased by Willie Brown isn’t very appetizing for anybody.
Oprah plays to white (& black) suburbanite females (and their beta-husbands). Oprah is an actress and she manipulates her audience using her craft.
“I can’t put my finger on it but I’ve always gotten a vibe from her that she holds white people in contempt, in particular, her idiotically devoted white women audience.”
Same here. It’s like she’s exploiting a collective guilt that her audience feels. Barack Obama’s message was carefully crafted along these lines too. Interesting that Oprah provided a much-needed boost to his fledgling campaign.
