Buried inside a midsummer report for Pete Buttigieg’s campaign outlining his own strengths and weaknesses, a few lines crystallized one of the most important developments of the 2020 presidential race: black voters’ relative lack of interest in the black candidates. “They see potential in her,” Buttigieg’s pollster wrote about Kamala Harris, after interviewing groups of black voters — “but do worry that America won’t elect a black woman.” And for many, Harris’ June debate criticism of Joe Biden on racial issues did not feel sincere.

Yeah, the mental image of a young Kamala gleefully getting her tonsils greased by Willie Brown isn’t very appetizing for anybody.

Oprah plays to white (& black) suburbanite females (and their beta-husbands). Oprah is an actress and she manipulates her audience using her craft.

“I can’t put my finger on it but I’ve always gotten a vibe from her that she holds white people in contempt, in particular, her idiotically devoted white women audience.”

Same here. It’s like she’s exploiting a collective guilt that her audience feels. Barack Obama’s message was carefully crafted along these lines too. Interesting that Oprah provided a much-needed boost to his fledgling campaign.
