I agree. “Sealed” votes on Impeachment would be a disaster for anyone not coming out for it or against. They’ll be guilty or not by association.

They have screwed this up. I said it all along. They hate him as much as we hated Hillary. They’ve had three years to find a good candidate. it should have been easy but they screwed it up. Now they will lose again.

If an impeachment vote is determined by polling (just like the impeachment charges), then we know all we need to know about today’s democrats.

I don’t know the answer to that. I would think that a majority of those in attendance would be required, not a majority of those voting.

"They have to have an ‘official’ vote first, to open an official inquiry, . . ."

As I recall, prior to a vote the issue of impeachment has to go through the Judiciary Committee, too.

If so, there's no way Nadler would pass up his chance to be ringmaster for another hearings circus.

You can see the problem here when the people who voted present can they say they voted, that they just have a neutral position, and they wanted to express that.-Tom

https://www.congressionalinstitute.org/2013/04/02/voting-present-as-a-legislative-tactic

When a bill or amendment is up for a vote, a Representative may vote “aye”, “no”, or “present”, which is a refusal to take sides.

A “present” vote does not count towards or against the passage of a bill, but it contributes towards the quorum, which is the minimum number of Members required in attendance for the body to conduct business legally.

If Joe Biden had someone Murdered overseas when he was Vice President to protect his Son, he couldn’t be Investigated because he is running for POTUS?

No, if Biden had someone murdered overseas, but that murder was going to happen anyway because the person murdered was “on his way out anyway, and the government supported his ouster”, and it was official US policy that the person in question should be murdered, then he wouldn’t be investigated. That such a murder may also benefit his son would only be an unrelated bonus. That’s essentially the Democrat position wrt Burisma and the Bidens.

The ironic thing is, when that same “logic” is applied to Trump and the July 25 phone call, it suddenly becomes impeachable. Trump asking for investigations into 2016 irregularities and Hunter in particular, was legal to be done (we have a treaty with Ukraine that says we can make such requests) and that it *might* benefit Trump personally (not even a guarantee there) is just a side effect of a lawful request given the treaty.

But again, with Biden it’s fine, because it (the removal of the prosecutor) was something that was going to “happen anyway”’(the Ukranian government had plans to remove him down the road or so Biden apologists say) and the US at the time had problems with him too so wanted him gone not just Biden. Biden was just following Obama orders IOW (again so the apologists say). That the firing of the prosecutor just so happened to benefit the Bidens, oopsie well that’s just a coincidence.

But the same “coincidence” for the exact same (kinds of) reasons can’t benefit Trump without some evil intent on Trump’s part. It’s the largest double standard in my recent memory. It’s sick really.

It is likely she will not call for an impeachment vote. She can only get away with that once and she does not have the votes. Adam Schiff did not produce.

But...but...for years they said they had the proof! For years we heard Trump was a Russian spy and a traitor and threatened Ukraine! How can they let a criminal mastermind off after the years of fundraising promising to impeach him?

Trump needs to troll the hell out of the democraps and the media telling their impeachment lies with a crawler at the bottom saying Donate to the DNC! We don’t lie like Trump! We lie only for money and only to the stupid!

And even more foolish if they do proceed - I’m crossing my fingers and hoping they do have their vote....I doubt the House even has the votes after the Schiff circus.

I’m amazed that Pelosi hasn’t banished Schiff to the hinterlands of some worthless subcommittee already. He has to be considered a major embarrassment to the leadership behind closed doors by now.

Pelosi doesn't have to hold her vote right away; she can always keep the threat on the table, gently stoking the embers...

The problem is that the longer she sits on this egg, the less people care about it. Attention spans are short. The hardcore radicals won’t change — they’ve wanted Trump impeached since election day — but the fence-sitters have already begun to stray.

At this point, I don't think it's about impeachment, since it's mostly an inside-the-beltway thing anyway.

By keeping it slowly stoked, Pelosi is keeping the heat on the others inside-the-beltway who might become Trump allies or potential nominees.

Anyone who steps out in support of Trump will find themselves added to the impeachment probe. Just look at how SDNY is suddenly going after Giuliani, seemingly out of nowhere.
