This commonwealth has the second worse brewing state pension crisis in the country. He was modifying the whole teacher pension plan (and others, I believe). I know a lot of conservatives that are also teachers or have a daughter that is a teacher. They really hate Bevin.
And this election speaks to why I think the country is kinda screwed in the long term. When can-do leaders are put in a position to make the hard decisions to improve the economy, the voters will promptly dump them because they don’t like the pain.

Probably so. My question is why the big deal on Kentucky Governor? We won everything else there. Media acting like this is the end of the GOP. However, I don’t recall a single peep from them when Maryland and Massachusetts elected republican governors. No “well DNC is in trouble” or anything. Frustrating!!!!!

The governor is highly unpopular, not surprising to anyone familiar with KY that he got far fewer votes... This is not “proof” of fraud fraud that he got a lot less vote than other statewide R’s on the ballot.
He proposed/agreed to a toll road/bridge that pissed a lot people off. No toll on that bridge, but he wants to put one on it.
Toll roads are worse then nuclear waste dumps. The public hates them, cause we pay so much in taxes that the roads should just be paid for already. And toll roads are really just revenue system to pay high paying jobs to connected people. So they are just patronage pit nonsense
If Phil Murphy (D-NJ) proposed tolls on I195 or I295 he would not get re-elected in 2021, I will guarantee you that.
The only reason Bevin is even within a half a point of his opponent is this is because of Trump, without Trump he would have been toast with a double digit lost
