Russia begins pumping natural gas into Turkish Stream pipeline
RT (Yeah I know... but not reported elsewhere) ^ | October 18, 2019

Gazprom has started to fill the first branch of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream pipeline with natural gas. This is the final stage of testing the pipeline before putting it into operation later this year.

“Filling the pipeline system with gas is a significant step towards the start of actual gas supplies to Turkey and South-East Europe through the new system of offshore gas pipelines,” said the pipeline’s operator South Stream Transport B.V. It added that the first deliveries are scheduled for the end of 2019. Turkish Stream gas pipeline route © gazprom.ru

The major joint project between Moscow and Ankara, the Turkish Stream (aka TurkStream), was officially agreed in October 2016. It involves the construction of a gas pipeline consisting of two branches with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. The first line is intended for the supply of Russian gas to Turkish consumers, the second – for gas supply to the countries of Southern and Southeast Europe.

Interesting given the cease fire. Certainly gives Turkey incentive to not tick off the Ruskies.

Does this mean they will have control over Turkey just like Trump feared they would have over the krauts.

I don’t think Turks are likely to freeze without gas, but yeah... Russia has influence. Might be a somewhat good thing because I honestly trust Russia more than the Turks and I do not trust Russia at all. At least Russia is anti Muslim.

I guess you haven’t been paying any attention to all the weapon deals our “ally” turkey has been signing with Putie putt. He all ready got them.

Unfortunately NATO made a slight oversight. There no mechanism to expel a member in the charter.

No traces of Clintons or Bidens or Romneys on Gazprom board.

Considering Russia and Iran have the 1st and 2nd largest proven NG reserves on the planet, where else is Turkey expected to get it’s NG? Heck, 6 of the top 7 producers are in Turkey’s backyard, with only #4 USA not within pipeline distance. Countries around the world are only going to put up with our pushing sanctions down their throat for so long before they start ignoring them, and that is starting to happen.

Yep. Natural order of things. International resistance to Uncle Sam’s financial pressure is guaranteed.

Russia is pragmatic, and so are we. Gas and gas and oil supply are very important in the ME, almost as much as water. And Russia, like the US, is fine with Muslims as long as they don’t attack it.

The whole Biden corruption scam was about getting in on the ground floor with a Ukrainian gas company that was initially Russian friendly, but IIRC the Russian oligarch bailed on it so then it continued as a Ukrainian project.

Will Russia get energy dominance in the ME? Possibly. We can’t do it, but we can work with the Russians, who are a lot saner than the Turks. And Iran is becoming so menacing that even Russia realizes it has a tiger by the tail. Perhaps they can deal with it without us having to vaporize it.

One of the things I think few people but Trump realize is the incredible complication of this and all of the interlinking parts.

This post reminds me that my curiosity had me wanting to know the procedures for filling a natural gas pipeline with its initial NG & purging the air. I’m going to DUCKDUCKGO now but if anyone has personal knowledge I’d be glad to read it.

And what if the warmongers had their way and America got embroiled in the whole thing with no real side to be on?

First you send nitrogen gas through. Dries the pipe and gives it an inert state. Then you run the natural gas through.

You have to deal with “inert slugs” for awhile till you purge the nitrogen:)

You have to fire Bond, James Bond, through it with his legs tightly wrapped around his girl of the hour. Whooosh!!!

Thanks. It makes sense to purge the air out with an inert gas such as nitrogen so the NG can’t mix with air (including its oxygen) to produce an explosive mixture. Regarding “inert slugs”...perhaps they could use Nancy Pelosi,

This is the pipeline war? I believe so...

More like it WAS the pipeline war. The only "big league" backer of the Saudi/Qatari pipelines through Syria was the USA. With ISIS defeated there can be no Caliphate, and with the USA out, no Rojava, and thus no Saudi/US backed pipeline through Syria. Assad will not screw over Putin, and allow an alternate NG source to Europe. Yes, it is a win for Russia and Iran, but should we really be using our military to overthrow a government in order to benefit KSA, Qatar and the EU? Of course, you will never get the "no blood for oil" crowd to give credit to Trump.

Had the EU considered the geopolitics of their energy supplies, maybe they would have played a role like ours in the Syrian civil war and not left it to Uncle Sam to do their bloody bidding. Now they will heat their homes at the whim of Putin, who has proven he is willing to cut off supplies over politics...

“” “” Now they will heat their homes at the whim of Putin, who has proven he is willing to cut off supplies over politics...”” “”

When? At height of Cold War US military in Europe was getting Russian gas.
