My analogy about socialism. It is like a drink made up of three layers. The top layer is sweet. The middle layer is bitter. And the bottom layer is poisonous. And if you buy that drink, you must drink it all.
Bernie, like every socialist before him, will talk about the top layer only.

I hate to break it to you, but it isn’t just Bernie, it is every last person running on the Democrat Socialist Workers Party.
But don’t forget Bernie is much smarter than the average socialist and knows how and when to plant money trees.
More specifically, Sanders needs to get out of the federal government since the main power that the states have espressly constitutionally given the feds to dictate domestic policy is to deliver the mail (1.8.7), most domestic federal policy these days based on stolen state powers imo.
Sanders then needs to find a state that wants to become like Venezuela and is willing to elect him as a state lawmaker or governor so that he can exercise the state's 10th Amendment-protected state powers to take the state in that direction.
In fact, the congressional record shows that Rep. John Bingham had clarified that the Founding States had left the care of the people with the states, not the feds.
”... the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added].” —Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)
Justice Brandeis had put it this way about the unique, 10th Amendment-protected powers of the states to serve the people.
"It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose [emphasis added], serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” — Justice Brandeis, Laboratories of democracy.
(Note that constitutional limits on states as laboratories of democracy is that states cannot establish privileged / protected classes or abridge constitutionally enumerated rights, and must maintain a constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government.)
