I am pleased to announce that highly respected Congressman John Ratcliffe of Texas will be nominated by me to be the Director of National Intelligence. A former U.S. Attorney, John will lead and inspire greatness for the Country he loves. Dan Coats, the current Director, will be leaving office on August 15th. I would like to thank Dan for his great service to our Country. The Acting Director will be named shortly.

Why did POTUS circumvent DNI Coats (normal protocol for DECLAS) and give AUTH directly to AG Barr?

If even a modicum of improvement over Coates, great strides will be made.

Yes. He will resign from Congress.

“Governor can appoint who?”

A replacement Congressman or Senator, if one leaves for any reason (like taking an Administration job).

This right here should be enough to let us know which team Coats plays for.

Dan Coats has been doing an outstanding job as Director of National Intelligence. He speaks truth to power and gives policy makers the best intelligence possible. He is loyal to the country and constitution, and that is as it should be.

Recall that Mick Mulvaney was also a sitting Congressman when tapped for OMB. He resigned from Congress upon Senate confirmation.

But the DNI has access to ALL the Deep State’s information.

I believe a Representative requires a special election.

Sorry, that is only in case of a Senator. House seat can stay vacant until special election.

Nominated - appointed - which? Recess appointment maybe? I’m sure he would have to be confirmed.

There should be a slew of recess appointments during their EXTENDED VACATIONS!

Primarily he coordinates budgets, sees that Intel is properly shared/disseminated & reconciles analytical disagreements amongst the 17 members of the IC. Of course not him personally he “manages the process”. That’s the job description, apparently it takes several thousand people to do it. The DNI over time has “morphed” into an “18th” Intel agency that administers the other 17.

“Was coats cooperating with Barr?”

After Barr sent his letter to the Justice Department telling employees to tell him about Obama ear corruption, Coats sent a letter demanding that no one communicate directly with Barr without going through him (Coats).

He should have been fired the next morning, but something tells me that Trump is working to a certain timeline - which would make sense, since he plays 4-D chess against the peons.

To put it another way, the Deep State felons better start looking for legal council, as they just lost a layer of protection, although Wray is still covering at the FBI.

“”Isn’t/wasn’t there some type of rule that prohibited sitting members of Congress from accepting these types of positions?””

Coats was in the Senate before getting the DNI position so apparently not...

Oh well, probably worth a vote short.

Hopefully, whoever had the idea to put a useless former US Senator in the DNI position is gone, too.

This youtube video may go a long way towards explaining why Dan Coates is being fired

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SopxN4NwjoA

Kind of surprised he lasted this long, but the President was probably not in a position to fire the DNI while Team Mueller was running wild
