When U.S. intelligence agencies gather information on foreigners, often the name of a U.S. citizen or entity will be collected. Under current U.S. law, information about innocent citizens gathered in this way is referred to as incidental collection. Their names and data must be masked to protect their privacy.
Authorized government officials, under certain conditions, may unmask the identity of an individual.
In October 2017, Powers testified before a closed session of the House Intelligence Committee. Then Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) spoke to Fox News Brett Baier afterward and said:
Her testimony is they [the unmasking requests] may be under my name, but I did not make those requests.
I think if she were on your show, she would say those requests to unmask may have been attributed to her, but they greatly exceed by an exponential factor the requests she actually made So, thats her testimony, and she was pretty emphatic about it.
So, weve got to get to the bottom of that. If there is someone else making requests on behalf of a principal in the intelligence community, we need to know that because were getting ready to reauthorize a program thats really important to the country, but also has a masking component to it. When John Bolton served at the United Nations, he unmasked the identities of three individuals. In the year leading up to the 2016 presidential election, then-U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Powers unmasked over 260 Americans.
On September 20, 2017, Fox News reported that the remarkable number of Americans who had been unmasked at Powers request was an attempt to uncover associates of President Trump. She was unmasking at such a rapid pace in the final months of the Obama administration that she averaged more than one request for every working day in...

IIRC, she said she didn’t unmask hundreds.
I’ve got a Spygate-related question: What if the dossier wasn’t the product but the cover...?
That must have been the other Samantha Powers.
This is right up there with the allegation theory that Susan Rice forged her UN successor, Samantha Powers,
name to authorize unmaskings. Obama and HRC ordered the unmasking, and Rice obediently forged the signatures.
Partners in crime......UN Amb Powers, Hillary's successor,
Secy of State Kerry, Obama, NSC's Rice (onetime UN Amb).
My bet is it was likely thousands, and the surveillance started long before, maybe even before Barry....
Shes a dishrag and nothing more!
Just sheer malicious spite.....
And because she could. Talk about mean girls -
That is my bet. If they were this bold they have surely gotten away with much more..
Yeah, the one without an s at the end of her last name...
Why does the US Ambassador to the UN, not exactly the most critical position in the US government, need to unmask anyone? And, if they do need to do it, how many times has it been done in the past.
Indict her, put her in cuffs and hold her, indefinitely, under the NDAA. She’ll think they’ll come to save her, but they won’t.
You’re right! Evidently nobody else knows that.

Not sure why its being ignored, but Obama U.N. ambassadors were compiling an enemies list of Israel defenders.
The broader Trump campaign was already being well spied on. Power/Rice efforts were looking for Israel backers not directly connected to the Trump campaign.
Soon well learn why
I doubt that
Soon Brennan eat all will walk. Theyre likely doing major negotiations right now. He has no intention of being in any way sanctioned for his misdeeds.
She’s the witch that called for American boots on the ground in Israel.
Powers denies the unmasking. Possibly, someone forged her signature, which would be a hoot.
She was spying on people who were pro Israel.
What edict or statute gives the Ambassador to the United Nations the authority to “un-mask”/investigate anyone?
My impression, based on comments made by her last year....she was totally ‘lost’ once brought from the UN job to the White House. She knew nothing about the unmasking paperwork she was signing, and signed virtually everything she was given.
