I don't whether to laugh or cry about this article. The 29-year old congresswoman from NY who is telling us we need to completely overhaul the US Economy is stumped by a garbage disposal..... Actually I think it's funny but indicative of how ridiculous she really is...

I’m not buying it either.
Funny - every time I use the disposal I think of that scene from the Fraser Crane show or whatever it was called. The younger brother Niles announces that he has to fish a bone out of the disposal, and “Nobody get near the switch!”.
As soon as he sticks his hand in, Frasier hits the button on the coffee grinder. Niles does a great job of yanking his hand out.
To me it is sort of like the Archie/Meathead episode of putting on socks. Every time I put on my socks....!
That, and some comedy routine - I can’t remember who by.
“Hidden beneath the bottom of the drawer underwear. You know. I mean they’re clean and all. But they got some holes, the elastic is trashed, but in a pinch - you can still wear them.”
I live in an upper class neighborhood. None of our homes ever had a garbage disposal. I have never seen or used one. Why do you need a garbage disposal when sanitation picks up our garbage twice a week. Can someone explain?
I think the author misses the point.
EVERYTHING on line is an extreme. Everything is awesome, when in fact its fairly mundane.
It must be exhausting to having to keep topping your last experience. No wonder they are depressed. If you live your life with a few truly awesome experiences, you are lucky.
I remember a morning, driving through the rolling hills outside of Topeka. I just stopped the car and stood there looking around at the hills, the green grass, the bright sunshine....THAT was awesome. 25 years ago and I am there in a second, in my mind.
That and a few other truly awesome moments make up a life.
Trying to make the discovery of a garbage disposal interesting is just sad. Although, I remember the first apartment where I had one. I felt like I really had made the big leagues; but I did not share that with the world.
It makes it easier to clean up the peelings of a salad or cleaning plates of post dinner garbage. Our trash pick up is once a week. We havent had a garbage man for 40 years.
In the summer the trash could get pretty ripe.
But yes, I lived my first 25 years without one. Its nicebut it never changed my life.
We have compost piles or composters.
But then, when I was a kid and encountered my first flush toilet, it was a little scary.
Why would anybody want to crap IN the house?
The “undocumented” South America maid....
FACTS ON FILE
<><> Absent a waiver from House Ethics, family members have to be volunteers to get official house.gov email addresses,
<><> AOCs office apparently doesnt believe in having unpaid workers; according to her COS they have no volunteers in the office.
<><> So boyfriend Roberts is designated as staff but also isnt on AOCs staff,
<><> even though Roberts showed up in the House directory as processing into her personal office as a staffer.
That explains why AOC was so determined to pay volunteers---she and the b/f would richly benefit.

Ocasio-Cortez's office sure looks swampy
Washington Examiner ^ | 2/20/19 | Becket Adams / FR Posted by DeathBeforeDishonor1
For a freshman member of Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is remarkably swampy. During the 2018 election, her campaign funneled payments to Brand New Congress PAC, which in turn funneled payments to Brand New Congress LLC, which then made payments to her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, meaning the then-candidate effectively funneled money back to herself, according to Federal Election Commission filings compiled this week by GOP operative Luke Thompson.
As if that werent shady and ethically dubious enough, Brand New Congress PAC, which carried Ocasio-Cortezs fledgling campaign to victory, was co-founded by her current chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, who served formerly as her campaign chairman. At least, this is what the FEC filings tell us. I'd be curious to see if the congresswoman has a version of events contradicting the story the numbers tell. Her office did not respond to the Washington Examiners request for comment.
Thompson documented the details Wednesday in a Medium post. The most relevant parts read: AOC paid Brand New Congress LLC for strategic consulting, in her case totaling $18,880.14. Unlike in the other cases, Brand New Congress PAC turned around and paid her boyfriend as a 'marketing consultant.'
[W]hile Brand New Congress PACs ten largest expenditures were paid to Brand New Congress LLC for 'strategic consulting,' a sum that totaled $261,165.20 over the course of the campaign, its eleventh and twelfth largest expenditures were paid to Riley Roberts. Brand New Congress PAC paid her boyfriend Roberts $3,000 on August 9th. Eighteen days later, AOCs campaign paid Brand New Congress LLC $6,191.32: A month later Brand New Congress PAC then turned around and paid Riley Roberts another $3,000.
Why would Chakrabarti, a founding engineer at Stripe and a wealthy veteran of Silicon Valley, be hiring a no-name 'UX Experience' guy with little discernible marketing experience to serve as Brand New Congress PACs sole marketing consultant? The answer seems to be that Chakrabarti was funneling money paid to him by AOCs campaign back to Roberts and by extension to AOC.
The finer details are convoluted, but the toplines are this: There are two separate "Brand New" entities. First, theres the PAC, which raises money it can contribute to candidates' committees. Then theres the LLC, which is also co-founded by Chakrabarti. This second entity, provides campaign services to candidates to help lower the barriers to entry, Thompson explains, adding, LLCs do not have to disclose or itemize their spending.

She’s kidding
That's not my point.
My point is that Bush's supposed ignorance of a supermarket barcode scanner was treated as an outrage, as evidence that he was out of touch with common people.
A-O-C's supposed ignorance of ordinary kitchen accessories is apparently taken as "cute" and "endearing."
If she’s so environmentally conscious, she should know what a garbage disposal is. Typical lying lib.
Don’t know how to excerpt?
I think you nailed it. It's like asking a blind man for makeup tips.
Not rue about the house Occasional-Kotex grew up in but NYC is known for not having garbage disposal units. FWIW, I’ve never had one either.
Unfortunately I believe she is not atypical of millenial grads. They know tech stuff, using their androids and tablets but they have fallen into the deception that if they want or need to find something all they have to do is google. And unless a fact, issue, idea directly affects them it is not important.
Hi.
Do you think she knows what a bedet is?
5.56mm
“...Sees a garbage disposal”
And wonders how they shove that big metal can through the hole in the sink.
Or it could be a good way to shred the evil plastic garbage bags for composting...but then again, they’re a pretty fair size as well.
Yeah Rush was talking about it today on his show. Sure NYC may not allow garbage disposals (according to Rush) mainly because of the waste management unions, but for AOC to act like she’s never even seen or heard of one? No one can be that out of touch sorry, especially in the upper crust from where she was from.
In the same amount of time I can scrape the plate and put scraps into a small trash can I keep in my kitchen. I don’t have to turn on a noisy thing and put my hand near something dangerous.
