It makes it easier to clean up the peelings of a salad or cleaning plates of post dinner garbage. Our trash pick up is once a week. We haven’t had a “garbage” man for 40 years.

In the summer the trash could get pretty ripe.

But yes, I lived my first 25 years without one. It’s nice—but it never changed my life.

I don't think anyone I know has a garbage disposal.

We have compost piles or composters.

But then, when I was a kid and encountered my first flush toilet, it was a little scary.

Why would anybody want to crap IN the house?

In the same amount of time I can scrape the plate and put scraps into a small trash can I keep in my kitchen. I don’t have to turn on a noisy thing and put my hand near something dangerous.
