Presidential candidate Andrew Yang is campaigning on the platform of Universal Basic Income. He says everyone from MLK to Milton Friedman to Richard Nixon were for it. But were they? The answer won't surprise you.
This is the flip side of the robot revolution.
Nixon was for it? no, he skunked the guy who was for it. PFFFFFFFT! Phooey, McGovern was for it and he won, what, 1 state?
Imagine five college students sharing an apartment bringing in $60,000 per year. Theyll be talking vacations while I am working.
They're college students - they already are.
Plus the District of Columbia.
Bump for later
And student loan interest is a lot lower than credit cards...party on!
Ah, progressives.
The only idea they have (have had, and ever will have) is “we can give you stuff that we’ll take from others”.
The tipping point sill come and we’ll get the pleasure of giving progressives stuff which they really do not want.
“He says everyone from MLK to Milton Friedman to Richard Nixon were for it.”
Just like Jessica Tarlov on Faux...I mean Fox News this AM said the majority of Americans want illegal aliens to be able to stay in America. I guess your brain doesn’t survive too well if your head is stuck some place where there is no Oxygen.
McGovern was for it and he won, what, 1 state?...
Governor George McGovern the socialist won Mass. did not even take his home state of S.Dak.
Remember watching W.F. Buckley and McGovern debate. Buckley mop the floor with him.
He’s flat-out lying. That is not what Friedman favored.
This random candidate is literally polling N/A in the Democratic primary, who really cares what he has to say?
A dangerous and truly stupid idea that will lead to a permanent underclass which will be fore sale to the highest bidder.
If I remember “Milton Friedman” comments on this correctly. It was to replace all forms of federally funded welfare including the cost of maintaining the legions of bureaucrats & social workers who administer it. It would be a unit of the treasury that mails out the check. What the recipient does with it is his/her business. Friedman claimed it would be cheaper & less socially harmful.
Of course he was right.
The Dems were brilliant when they put the Ag Dept in charge of food stamps...
Trust me, I read all the stuff from these guys. THEY ARE PISSED.
The theory is fine but no politician could help tuning it with some special cases that would multiply year by year
Seriously, half the American public is incapable of seeing what is stupid about the “universal basic income.”
