Photos from the recent muslims elected to congress showed something unusual in photos of them taking the oath of office. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) took the oath with her little finger spread apart from her other fingers. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) took the oath with her little finger and the next finger spread apart from the rest of her fingers.
I have been searching for what, if anything, this means and have found nothing. Do any Freepers know if this means anything or is it just a coincidental and unusual jesture?
Any insight would be appreciated.
All those who consider themselves evil geniuses do this. I think they learn it in evil genius school.
It might be the same as us crossing our fingers when we would take the oath..
It’s a Vulcan thing...
Live long and prosper?
How ‘bout some photos.
Trump did it also.
I need to correct myself, both had only their little finger spread apart. Here is a photo of Omar. Talib was the same:

It’s an ISIS thing..
Thumb is also “out”
They only use the first three digits to wipe their ass
Kinda like doing the pinky thing when you sip tea properly
This was not holding up just the index finger which I was familiar with. This is the little finger spread apart.
But, they wipe with the left hand and were taking the oath with the right hand.
For what it’s worth, if I hold my hand up, the thumb and little finger spread out naturally. You have to make a conscious effort to pull them together. It could just be that.
sorry.
I misplaced my /s tag
I don’t have a right hand pinky, so it’s not much of an issue for me
But now that you mention it, my left one goes out slightly , but not like what they’re doing
Means nothing. Just an affectation.
Almost sounds like the Hebrew benediction symbol a rabbi gives at the end of the service ... just like Spock did on Star Trek.
Ok. Best I can do tonight
