To begin with: how much will Trump’s wall cost to build?
In her informative piece, statistician Liberty Vittert estimates that Trump’s wall will cost some $25 billion to build. Vittert breaks her estimate down as follows:
Size of the wall: 1,150 miles long; 40 feet high; 10 feet deep into the ground; 1 foot wide
Total volume of material: 11.2 million cubic yards
Materials: Approximately $8.7 billion in concrete (97 percent of the materials); approximately $3.6 billion in steel (3 percent of the materials)
Labor: Approximately $12.3 billion (given the labor costs on the original 654 miles of barriers we can assume a conservative 1:1 ratio of materials to labor)
Land acquisition: About 60 percent of the border is privately owned land. While the federal government has the power to take privately owned property for public purposes, it must provide “just compensation.” Based on previous purchases from the 2006-2009 wall construction, the cost at most would be $300,000 per mile acquired, or approximately $200 million altogether.
In total, the actual physical cost of the wall would be about $25 billion...

Do the math??? Liberals are fuming their refunds aren’t as big as last year. They overlook their tax bill is less (who cares, right?) and they subsequently have more bring home (again who cares). But their refund (which is basically a interest free loan to the government) was less! That’s unfair unless you look at it in a math-y type way.
They never should have had any taxpayer benefits and we wouldn’t have this problem but why isn’t anyone discussing pulling the plug on the money?

Yea...Do the math. Does anybody on this forum really believe that the government will actually spend less money if we build a wall? I hope not. The government NEVER reduces any type of expenditure for anything. I support the wall, but it aint gonna save anybody any money.

Even if we spend the money on the wall, we will still be spending the $165 million yearly on illegal aliens unless we make them go home.

I agree that illegal aliens pay sales taxes, but, IMHO, more often than not they are buying stuff and paying those taxes with welfare money...
Also, I forget the exact un-taxed amount that has been published as the amount leaking each year across the border into Mexico, but it is the many many billions of dollars per year...
Most school systems in the U.S. are now flooded with illegal alien kids as well as former anchor babies now old enough to go to school... Illegal aliens are not paying the taxes that support the education systems...
Latest data, posted here the other day, shows that the prison systems are jammed with illegal aliens who are not paying any taxes to support the prison systems...
