A California mechanic who worked for American Airlines for more than 30 years has pleaded guilty to tampering with an aircraft in a deal to avoid a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, according to reports.
Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, 60, admitted using a piece of foam to sabotage the plane’s air module system — which reports aircraft speed, pitch, and other flight data to pilots — on a July 17 flight from Miami to the Bahamas with 150 passengers aboard the aircraft.
“I do admit the guilt,” he said through an Arabic interpreter in Miami federal court Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald.

N Korea
Growing consensus that the NK surprise will be a long range ICBM launch. Some OSINT observers are noting that there has been no activity related to a launch at the NK launch facility. Again, NK is holding the cards pretty close.
Iran
AP reporting statement from Iran “We have had great achievements and today, Iranian new IR-6 centrifuges are working and models IR-9 are currently being tested,” the state-run IRNA news agency quoted Rouhani as telling the Iranian expats.” These new centrifuges are suppose to speed up the uranium concentration rates. Iran is currently enriching uranium to the 4.5% level (exceeding the accord’s limit of 3.67%). Enriching uranium at the 3.67% level is enough for peaceful purposes but is far below weapons-grade levels of 90%. There is still much speculation on just how quickly Iran can create a nuclear weapon under current conditions.
Hong Kong
Relative quiet news wise since the election. However, many protest demands have not been resolved and the situation could erupt again at a moment’s notice.

With the politically driven impeachment vote last night, the potential for violence is winding up. There are demonstrations/protests for both sides being scheduled where violence could potentially occur.
Virginia - over 90% percent of the counties/municipalities have established 2A sanctuary policies. This movement appears to be spreading nation wide. WARNING - there is a lot of rumor and misinformation out there. Look for other sources (not citing the original) for confirmation. One such rumor is the claim that the Virginia governor is looking at how to shut down power, internet and comms in areas to facilitate confiscation. For a state governor to contemplate such action is overtly treasonous - but I don’t think the democrats there are that stupid - yet. Just be alert and keep your powder dry.

The reason? This Turkish Muslim passenger was forced her to extinguish her cigarette. She’s the one in the full-face covering body bag in blue.
The SUN A Pegasus Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tymbou, Northern Cyprus airport was canceled after a Muslim woman threatened to blow up the aircraft this morning, Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported. According to Hurriyet, the woman argued with other passengers and kept lighting cigarettes in the plane before security forces arrived.
She held up a picture of Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen – accused of being behind the 2016 coup plot to take out President Erdogan. According to Cyprus Mail, the woman yelled: “I am a FETO member, and I will blow up the aircraft.” Turkish media said the woman claimed to have five bombs.

Lebanon
It has been announced that Hassan Diab will be the new prime minister for Lebanon. Diab is known to be a Hezbollah supporter. There are reports that there are tens of thousands of protestors headed to Beirut to protest the selection. This is potentially explosive given that Hezbollah has opened fire on other protests.
Look at it another way. Two million chicken nuggets are produced and shipped. A dozen of them in different locations are found with glass or plastic in them.
All two million are recalled by the factory.Two million moslems are allowed into the USA. A dozen or more, in different locations will kill you...

N Korea
“Sources” at the White House indicate that an ICBM/long range missile launch would constitute crossing the red line. Just like Kim is holding his cards close, so too is the President on any kind of a response.
Other sources indicate that both China and Russia have indicated to NK that they would look the other way if NK launches an ICBM. They draw the line at further nuclear tests. Both countries have been assisting NK circumvent sanctions.
OSINT military aircraft observers are noting more surveillance aircraft enroute to SK/Japan. They also note a lot of assets are currently flying in the region.
Libya
The UN backed GNA government has called for Turkey to intervene militarily in the civil war. This following the opposition LNA airstrike on Turkish weapons and munitions storage facilities in the Tripoli area. LNA has issued a demand that militias supporting the GNA have 3 days to pull out.
The battle for Tripoli has been going on for about 8 months now and the national politics is quite entwined - particularly that of Russia and Turkey. In Libya, Russia is supporting the LNA while Turkey backs GNA. In Syria, Russia and Turkey are striving for some kind of more friendly relationship. This is making strange bedfellows
Israel
Hamas launched some rockets, IAF blow stuff up. Pretty standard activity.
Diplomatic relations with Jordan are on the down swing. This is likely reflecting the rise in a more radical, Islamic presence in Jordan which is forcing the king to be more aggressive towards Israel.
US CW2
With the House shutting down for the remainder of the year and not forwarding the articles of impeachment to the senate, expect partisan rhetoric to continue to be high on both sides. But also expect that republicans will continue to be more aggressive towards democrat representatives at their town hall meetings. Several were disrupted prior to the impeachment vote. This could lead to localized violence.

N Korea
Wednesday the U.N. condemned NK for human rights abuses. Overnight the US redesignated NK as a violator of religious freedom and imposed additional sanctions. NK said sanctions would further aggravate the situation between NK and the world.
Meanwhile the watch is on for what NK may do for its “present”. Additional surveillance aircraft are in the sky’s and yesterday Japan deployed two Aegis equipped warships into the area between the two countries.
Unnamed sources report US intelligence doesn’t see a long range missile test until next year and currently assess another short range or engine test as being more likely.
The unusual NK party plenum begins today (Dec 21) and there is a lot of speculation as to what may come out of it. What is expected is a major policy (s) change such as resumption of nuclear testing, cancellations of inter Korean accords etc. It is possible that the gift may be linked to the results of this meeting.
NK
Kim presided over the Workers’ Party’s Central Military Commission meeting this weekend - the much anticipated results still pending. CNN (weeks late) suggest the big story will be taking denuclearization off the table. What is certain is that NK is switching hard to the dark side. Meeting still ongoing.
OSINT observers note that launch sites for solid fuel rockets are ready. The liquid fuel facilities show some activity but not at a level indicating imminent launch.
Other reports, satellite imagery shows the March 16 Factory, which is involved in the development and production of ICBM launchers having been significantly enlarged.
Libya
Things are getting very tangled there as the battle for Tripoli heats up. Greece along with other supporters of the ruling GNA are laying the groundwork for essentially a blockade of any vessels bringing support to the LNA forces - specifically Turkey. The increasing involvement of Turkey in Libya combined with increased aggression around cypress and n Syria brings increasing threat of a regional war.
Israel
Overnight IAF struck the T-4 air base and Damascus airport. Most likely targeting Iranian/Hezbollah storage sites. One of the biggest rumors is that a senior Iranian general in the IRGC was targeted and killed.

Cobra ball and other surveillance aircraft maintaining 24 hour surveillance. Commercial aircraft have general warnings of potential long range missile test. No specific details. Weather conditions are generally good for the region. Of note last long range missile test in 2017 launched at 3 am local.

Observers note that well over a thousand have been killed over the past several months. Today internet has been shut down in embroiled areas due to more protests.
Israel
After IAF bombing of Hamas facilities things have returned to normal levels of tension. Of note Hamas announced reduction in protest tempo. It appears to be an attempt to demonstrate to Israel a degree of commitment towards peace while reserving the protest/rocket threat as a deterrent. Yesterday’s rockets were launched by PIJ faction and Israel hit Hamas - a message reinforcing the policy that Israel holds ruling Hamas responsible for any attacks.
Additional note - Israel deploying laser weapons to take down the balloons carrying fire bombs A 2 km range and reportedly accurate and efficient
India/Pakistan
Skirmishes on the LOC the past few days. Initiated by terror infiltrations from Pakistan.
N Korea
Observers note as many as 22 different aircraft working to provide 24/7 coverage of NK. The “gift” window is thought to extend to Kim’s birthday in early January. Most current theory is the gift will consist of a sub launched rocket. Still silence on results from the plenum.
Israel
Israel has stated that in any future war with Hamas, hezebollah or Iran they will not be deterred from striking residential areas. Further, they warn that host countries/government will have supporting infrastructure hit as well. Since they tolerate the presence of the attackers they bear the same responsibility.
Iraq
More political turmoil. Reuters reports that Iraqi President Barham Salih refused on Thursday to designate the nominee of an Iran-backed parliamentary bloc for prime minister, saying he would rather resign than appoint someone to the position who would be rejected by protesters. This further complicates matters but demonstrates the growing resistance to Iranian control of the country.

A prisons/law enforcement budget increase is being called out as indicating Virginia plans to incarcerate gun owners. The sanctuary county/city has grown to over 91% of the counties and by far the resolutions have passed unanimously.
Iraq/Iran
US Intel officials believe that Iranian backed militants were behind the rocket attack on K-1 base in Kirkuk. As many as 30 rockets struck the base according to the report. Reports that the US is allowing Iraq to have first crack on response. However this attack crosses one of the red lines laid down by Trump. One US civilian contractor killed and several military wounded.

FLASH. USAF targeted Iranian sites in Iraq in response to the rocket attack by Iranian supported militias. Targets on the Iraqi/Syria border . At least 3 Iranian officers among the estimated 25 dead with an additional 35 wounded.
Iran is threatening the right to retaliate.
Us bagdad embassy reportedly removing non-essential personnel.

Setting. Last Friday a US base near Kirkuk was hit with 30 rockets, killing a civilian American contractor and wounding many others. After finding the improvised multiple rocket launcher pentagon attributed that strike to Kataeb Hezbollah, using the initials KH. ”KH has a strong linkage with Iran’s Quds Force and has repeatedly received lethal aid and other support from Iran that it has used to attack OIR coalition forces,”. The link to Iran was further confirmed by 4 rockets that failed to launch - all from Iran.
Sunday usaf jets struck 5 targets of KH at a base on the border of iraq and Syria, killing at least three senior Iranian officers and several dozen others.
Today a group called “Popular Mobilization brigades” which is possibly a cover organization for Iranian backed militias, announced they are preparing to drive America out of Iraq. Hezbollah in Lebanon announced support for Iraqi factions. This morning there are reports of a Malaysian tanker being captured by Iranian forces.
Assessment. Since October 28, at least 11 attacks have targeted Iraqi military bases where US soldiers or diplomats are deployed, including five rockets that hit Al-Asad air base on December 3, just four days after US Vice President Mike Pence visited troops there. Iran probably saw lack of US kinetic response as a sign of weakness. Yesterday’s air strikes indicate that the red line was crossed and restraint will no longer be in game. This comes as protests by iraqi’s against corruption and rule by Iran supported factions continue. The Iranian backed militias are hard to hide from these locals and could provide a wealth of targeting intel.
Path forward. Iran likely to continue to let their dirty work be done by these militias but it will come at a price both to their economy and support at home. Iran’s funding of Hezbollah in Lebanon, trying to establish bases to strike Israel from Syria, securing a land supply route to Syria have cost a lot. Throw in support to Houthi rebels, up tempo threats by navy and expanding their nuclear program AND dealing with the largest internal unrest in recent times has Iran burning the candle from multiple sources.
Potential for other attacks - high.
N Korea
The govt has been unusually silent since about December 15th, as leadership meetings continue. OSINT and other observers note this to be highly unusual. Airborne surveillance has dropped slightly and I’ve not seen any indications of an event in the very near future. The silence is loud.

Reported truce with Taliban. Developing.
Libya
Turkey deploying surface naval ships and troops to Tripoli as its involvement in the civil war there increases.
