This well-preserved portrait, usually on display in Berlins Altes Museum, has become quite famous since it was acquired in 1976. Its a young woman, some traces of the original paint are still visible and a smile that betrays self-confidence. Although originally there were some doubts, it is now certain that this is Cleopatra VII Philopator, the last queen of independent Egypt. Yes, that Cleopatra.

“Independent Egypt”? Cleopatra was the last of a royal line that traces its origin to Greek warlords from the 5th century BC. Her bloodline was Greek, not Egyptian.
“Last queen of independent Egypt” after being conquered twice by the Persians and then the Greeks. Technically, however, it was independent and had a queen. Independent Egypt today has no queen.
FWIW someone recently on C2C said something that has been secret is being released, that the remains have been located of Alexander the Great, Cleopatra etc. in a place I forget where, I think I have that show recorded and still to relisten.
Chula Vista?
Yes, but when the Ptolemy's found themselves with Egypt as booty from the carved up conquests of Alexander the Great, what did they do? Put on the headdress, of course, and declare themselves the new Pharaohs.
Just like the Holy Roman Empire was krauts all the way down, and not Roman at all; you go with the theme.
I opened up this here history book
And flipped my lid when I took a look.
There on page 219
Was this here Egpytian queen.
Although she lived in 44 BC,
Cleopatra is the chick for meI'm going to build a time machine
So I can go back and make the scene.
I'm going to make some time
With my Egyptian queen
In my little old time machine.Pretty soon, I'll be making the gig
When I set the doodad on my thingamajig.
I'll pull the crank and turn the dial.
Very soon, I'll be on the Nile
Holding hands with my Cleo kid,
Setting in the shade of a pyramidShe got a daddy rich as old King Tut.
I hear her mummy's all wrapped up;
Got a room of diamonds on every shelf.
When I walk in, she'll say, "help yourself."
I'll fill my pockets and after a while,
We'll make some time,
Nineteen-six-oh style.Look at that girl go!
Like, she sure is copacetic!
Like, wow!
Get that snake away from my girl!
Oh, no! It's too late!
Thanks Beowulf9.
Cleopatra VII Philopator, the last queen of independent Egypt
That is, of course, nonsense -- she was put on the throne and kept there by the Romans, and was the last terribly unpopular pharaoh of the toothless (and as allendale pointed out in message two, non-Egyptian, of Macedonian and Greek origin) Ptolemaic dynasty.
I’ve never been able to find out out where the word ‘copacetic’ comes from...
(It’s supposed to mean something like ‘all right’...)
It didn't happen.
C2C dec 20 first 2 hours. In Jordan. King/Queen involved.
Guy had been looking for 20 years, for something else. Using ground penetrating radar. Old salt mine. 3 stories and dozens of rooms. Gold galore.
Guy was in it just twice. Has a relic he showed in Paris, the sword that was found lying on Alexander’s heart.

I wonder if death by snake bite hurts. I imagine it is pure agony.
There are at least 9 venomous species of snake in Egypt-—cobras and various vipers. Seems she would have had her choice.
