After fleeing tear gas shot at the U.S. border, Carlos González confessed confusion and second thoughts about the caravan that carried him to doorstep of his dream: life in the United States.
[He]... had hopped on the caravan .... figuring it would facilitate his entry.... for five weeks he could hope and dreamespecially as the caravan pushed past police barricades and crossed through closed borders in Guatemala and Mexico.
But the U.S. border has proved impossible so far for the more than 7,000 migrants... . He said his family was planning to sign up with Mexican officials for voluntary repatriation.....[snip]
Asylum claims are increasingly hard to make as fewer than 100 migrants a day are allowed to approach and receive a credible fear interview, the first step in the process.....[snip]
The arrival of so many caravan travelers and images of clashes with police have exposed an unseemly underbelly of xenophobia. A poll... showed 49% of Mexicans saying caravans shouldnt be allowed to cross the country. First Mexico and Mexicans, ...[snip]
What weve worried about is the closing of the border, the (colder) climate in northern Mexico organized crime, said Jorge Andrade, director of a collective of migrant shelters....
Luis Corrales,... didnt expect any problems in the protest. He said the march set out to seek answers from U.S. officials,.... Women and children were walking at the front of the march, he said, to see if they would let them enter..... He thought the caravans experience crossing into Guatemala and Mexico would prove the template for the U.S. border.
But now, Im done with the United States. Ill stay here.

GOOD.
Well count that as a WIN, then...
You get some brand new running shoes and some frijoles as a consolation prize.
"...he thinks it is cold in Mexico..."
Good take that message. Don’t come here!
We'll see how much bravado is left after a few weeks of local hostility, tent living, etc.
I feel so sorry for them ... /NOT
"...caravan turning back..."
“After fleeing tear gas shot at the U.S. border, Carlos González confessed confusion and second thoughts about the caravan that carried him to doorstep of his dream: life in the United States.”
Should have done it legally. What don’t they understand?
GO HOME Carlos González... The United States is NOT your country - YOU have no right to force yourself into our country.
Go HOME and fix the hellhole you ran away from... Fight for a working Constitution and a Bill of Rights that protects your citizens.
Don’t fall for commie traps - they’re always dead ends that sound great in the short run but will bring hell on earth in the long run.
I like the part about the colder climate in northern Mexico.
Its all a matter of what one is used to. The ten day forecast has highs in the 60s and rain or showers every day. The forecast for tecguchigalpa (sp) is highs in the low 80s with rain or showers every day. Here is the foothills of the Sierra Nevada my son, visiting from Fort Collins for Thanksgiving, wore shorts every day whereas we felt cold
Muy bein cabrones. Adios, pinche basura!
They will "get the message" very quickly.
They were sold a load of crap by leftist zealots.
These organizations need to be sanctioned
This is sending the message back that they are not getting in. A stand had to be taken.
Works for me.
They were lied to and told that ‘all families get in’ and ‘all pregnant women get in, automatically.’ The organizers need to be held accountable - Sin Fronteras is based in Chicago! Catholic Legal Immigrant Network is another one based in Washington, D.C.
This featured guy, Gonzalez, is a corn farmer with wife and two little kids in tow. Tired, hungry and one daughter sick with ‘the runs.’ He rightfully fears for their health and safety and realizes the odds are very slim for them.
This is true, most are staying put in TJ. Many more are arriving daily than are repatriating.
There is a sign up sheet to go home, when it gets filled, they likely call for a bus.
The number will swell to 10,000 shortly.
Some interviewed realize they have a very slim chance of asylum entry. Thus they have stated they will sneak in, likely pay a coyote. No shortage of those in TJ.
And a few hundred have been busted claiming that they are children when they are actually over 18 years of age.
