Trump's dire climate report hands ammunition to Democrats

Federal scientists warned in a new report Friday that changes in the climate will disrupt the economies of every region in the country in the coming years, with costs threatening to reach hundreds of billions of dollars annually by the middle of this century.

The message, echoing decades of sobering conclusions from the world's leading climate scientists, is at odds with President Donald Trump's repeated scoffing at the idea of global warming. And the administration chose to release it on Black Friday, the busiest shopping day and one of the slowest news days of the year.

But despite the timing, the report is bound to energize the new class of progressive Democrats set to take control of the House in January. Many of them, led by incoming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, are already pushing for an expansive "Green New Deal" as one of the rallying cries the party would take into the 2020 campaign.

Democrats wasted no time in pouncing on the report.

"Rather than hiding the facts, President Trump should heed the message of our nation’s preeminent climate scientists and experts," said New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone, who is in line to chair the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He added: "The days of denial and inaction in the House are over as House Democrats plan to aggressively address climate change and hold the Administration accountable for its backward policies that only make it worse.”

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas, who is set to take the gavel at the House Science Committee, said it's time to start addressing the causes of the wildfires, devastating storms, coastal flooding and toxic algae blooms that plagued much of the U.S. this year. "That is why I have made climate change one of my top priorities for the...

Federal scientists need and thus constantly seek, Federal funding. So no the report is not damning at all, but rather quite expected.

Oh! I posted this on another thread. It might hit the nail on the head:

The lift in the U.S. economy, thanks to President Trump, has increased the wheels of production. Think the pizza effect: The more people who can afford pizza the more pizzas will be made.

The economy is firing up the pizza ovens. New workers are on the roads; doing the work commute. New robots are consuming more electricity to deal with the increasing manufacture of goods. And more workers are expending heat from their bodies as they do what companies cannot afford what the robots can do or, cannot do. Then, there is the increased energy for distribution: Ships, airplanes, trains, trucks and cars. Then there is the energy of warehousing and fork lifting. Finally, there is the energy of using those new products. Home pizza ovens anyone?

Just my theory: All that energy, in the form of heat, goes into the atmosphere. Low pressure systems occur when an air mass warms. Increased human activity may be increasing those low pressure areas and causing wild weather conditions. It reminds me of the old song, “June is Busting Out All Over.” Yes. Your mind has to go deep to understand the symbolism:

June is bustin’ out all over
All over the meadow and the hill
Buds’re bustin’ outa bushes
And the rompin’ river pushes
Ev’ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill

Can tornadoes in Oregon may be the canary in the mine shaft of coming events? Is CO2 just a scapegoat for ordinary human activity? Maybe I can get a government grant to find out if my theory is correct. Until then, people need to shut up, get their asses out of bed and go to work.

Trump has no power over fake scientists installed by the deeps tate before Trump was even president. This report is just more the same old propaganda as always.

I certainly like warm a lot more than cold. 8>)

Of course in the south it can get rather hot, and being older I can't stay out in it too long. When I was younger even Vegas in 120 temps were not enough to keep me inside.

I've lived in cold climates too, and my age is what prompted me to move south, LOL. To escape the cold.

We’re all in for a sh1t heap of trouble with the upcoming grand solar minimum that’s starting.

It’s actually more of an internal fight within the Democrats. Pelosi will give lip service to global warming hysteria with mostly symbolic gestures such as giving tax credits for Tesla’s, but she’s not stupid enough to let her caucus go on record for the kinds of extreme measures that the lunatic fringe of her party is advocating. Thus, AOC camping out in her office, demanding “action”. Even if you accept everything the climate hysterics are saying, you can’t make a dent in it without the United States specifically basically reverting to Stone Age living standards.

This is a bunch of “possible”, might be” could be” affects of man made climate change.

Has nothing to do with documenting the existence of man-made climate change....2 different things.
