For this week's Big Ideas with Ben Weingarten podcast, my guest was Rich Higgins.
Higgins, an expert in unconventional warfare and combatting terrorism with over 20 years experience at senior levels of the Defense Department, and early supporter of President Trump, served as director for strategic planning in President Trump's National Security Council (NSC).
That all changed when a memo that he produced for President Trump warning of the political warfare he was to face internally from the Deep State, and externally from the media and like-minded interest groups in collusion with the administrative state, leaked out to the public.
Higgins' memo was dismissed as conspiratorial, and he was fired from the NSC.
What he foretold has risen to the forefront again in the wake of the unsigned New York Times op-ed detailing measures taken by Trump administration officials to "Resist" the president, and seek to sabotage his agenda.
I had Higgins on the Big Ideas with Ben Weingarten podcast to discuss the Deep State's efforts to subvert the president's agenda, whether there was an effort to purge like-minded individuals from Trump's national security and foreign policy team -- and why, what can be done to reform the administrative state, the ramifications of the politicization and weaponization of our national security and intelligence apparatus and much more.

The old Soviet term was “reactionary” and “counter-revolutionary”. America’s soviets updated it to “conspiratorial” and “conspiracy theorist”.
Because this is edgy important stuff... Some people figured out what was happening early - they're worth the time.
Yup, two terms coined by the CIA.
Well, since at least one Freeper recalls this as being a for real thing I'm bumping it for later.

Yeah, McMasters was the guy who fired Higgins. I have the memo Higgins wrote, somewhere on my computer.
Was glad when McMasters left.
McMasters fired him. McMasters IS gone. Was replaced by Bolton.

McMasters was a disaster. He had no business in that position. Pence cleared the way for him by submarining Flynn, claiming that he lied to him.
I know lots here really like him, but I’m not a big Pence fan. He’s GOPe to the bone.
Most of which are the powerful people in the North Eastern portion of the nation.
Well, we will have to agree to disagree. I've watched Pence since early 2000's.
I've never seen him as a GOPe. In fact, he's been pretty much a solid conservative....was part of forming the House Tea Party Caucus....and has worked over the years to get more conservatives into Washington.
