On Monday Sept. 17th, Christine Blasey Ford’s high school yearbooks suddenly disappeared from the web. I read them days before, knew they would be scrubbed, and saved them. Why did I know they would be scrubbed? Because if roles were reversed, and Christine Blasey Ford had been nominated for the Supreme Court by President Trump, the headline by the resistance would be this:

CHRISTINE BLASEY FORD AND THE DRUNKEN WHITE PRIVILEGED RACIST PLAYGIRLS OF HOLTON-ARMS.

And it would be an accurate headline. That’s why the yearbooks have been scrubbed. They are a testament to the incredible power these girls had over their teachers, parents and the boys of Georgetown Prep, Landon and other schools in the area. In the pages below, you will see multiple photos and references to binge drinking and the accompanying joy of not being able to remember any of it.

These yearbooks are, therefore, relevant to the national investigation now being conducted in the media, in homes, and in the halls of Congress. And they should not have been scrubbed. If Brett Kavanaugh’s yearbooks are fair game, so are these.

I don’t think we really disagree, NP. We just have very different life experiences.

You mention the age of 14; when I was about that age, my Grandmother developed a health condition that required a certain amount of nursing in the home; and I took it on - at 14.

Her need for this care lasted for about 18 years. My experiences caring for her during that time, especially the last year, when she was dying, was the most educational experience I ever had in my life, in every sense. And it prepared and fortified me for everything else that has ever come along in my life so far. I have always been grateful that I was there, able to do it and learn from it.

It meant a lot to her, too. She didn’t want to be cared for by strangers, or eventually die in some nursing home.

People have different kinds of lives; and they find value in different ways of living and learning.

No, we really don't disagree, or rather, not all that much!

There are different kinds of learning, different lives, and whilst once CAN empathize with and yes even understand another's experience/s, unless you actually have been to boarding school, you really won't understand it. But the one thing I do know, for sure, is that it can be THE best preparer for college and to maybe a lesser extent, young adult life. Most become responsible/more responsible and you're not going to turn into a snowflake...you learn to cope; well, at least that used to be the case.

But as I keep saying, it's NOT for everyone!

OTOH...it sure would have kept the H-A girls out of "partying" every weekend and during the week!

There are all sorts of ways to become a Man or a Woman. I knew boys who got drafted, or enlisted and spent time on ships, submarines; medics who came home without legs - who said the same thing:

One learns to cope ;-)

There are all kinds of learning and different ways to learn some of the same lessons; however, some of that is apples and oranges. I was only talking about the differences between schooling.
