".....They were also required to pay a $400,000 fine for their backburn going onto BLM land. To top that off, they had to agree to give the BLM first right of refusal if they ever sell their land......"

While Oregon ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond may indeed get commutation of their sentences or more from President Trump soon, maybe this week, the heavy hand of the federal government on the family business threatening its very future looms.
In addition to the federal government's coercion of the family to give the Bureau of Land Management 'first right of refusal' if the Hammonds decide to sell their land is still an issue on the table. There was also a 400-thousand dollar fine imposed when they were convicted.
In order to pay the massive fine, land sale is a distinct possibility for the Hammonds.

Chance of pardon is ZERO. NEVER HAPPEN.
It might be instructive to document those individuals in the gov’t who have been running this feud for all of the years.
I would say it’s more than likely the BLM will back off the Hammonds. The change in attitude from a year and a half ago towards mining is 180 degrees. Now the BLM is bending over backwards to help an friend of ours get his new gold mining operation up and running. Our mine which the govt was trying to seize from us is now out of court and sold. Just like magic. The difference is insane. Trump is really changing things.

Now that sounds like a perfectly normal penalty in a criminal case.
Sessions could have stopped this tragedy months ago...if Rosenfeinstein would let him.
Will We-The-People ever get DC off of our backs. They were never given the authority to do 95% of what they have decreed.
The beast is many trillion dollars strong. It is Leviathan.
