$21 Trillion Lost: Largest Theft in U.S. History No Politician Wants to Talk About
IWB ^ | Thinker

Posted on 05/24/2018 9:32:54 AM PDT by davikkm

Comedian Lee Camp on his show Redacted Tonight recalls the first-ever audit of the Pentagon, which is taking 2,400 auditors to do the job, trying to understand where $21 trillion in unsupported adjustments went. In his show, Camp recalled that a couple of years ago professor Mark Skidmore of Michigan State University heard Catherine Austin Fitts, former Assistant Secretary in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, say that the Department of Defense Inspector General had found $6.5 trillion worth of unaccounted for spending by the Army in 2015. Skidmore, being an economics professor, thought “she meant $6.5 billion and not $6.5 trillion”, because “trillion would mean the Pentagon misplaced more money than the Gross Domestic Product of the whole of the United Kingdom” (UK’s GDP $2.62 trillion), Camp said. “So he looked into the Inspector General’s report and he found something interesting: it was 6.5 trillion dollars!”

Article has to be wrong - total federal expenditures this year is about FOUR trillion dollars, of which the Dept of the Army might get a few hundred billion. Kind of hard to lose 21 TRILLION on that sort of budget. I am guessing they mean billion

The pentagon needs to call on Willard Phule, late of the space legion (character, Robert Asprin books) to square itself away....

I thought this story was going to be about the money that disappeared under Obama. That was like 20 trillion.

There are many more reliable blogs than IWB. Citing RT? Really? Why not cut to the chase and post Pravda?

I cannot wrap my lower-middle-class mind around this amount.
It’s over the top. The amount is incomprehensible as is the knowledge that ultimately, no one is going to be fully punished for it. That is my guess on the outcome.

Remember Jon Corzine’s missing $1.6 BILLION Dollars from the MF Global funds? December 2011.
He walked away after a tiny $5 MILLION Dollar fine. Corzine’s current net worth? Over $350 Million.

The number is right, but the conclusion is wrong. The “missing” money was spent and assests obtained, but the documentation for the spending is not easily auditable, as the records are a mess. We have much of the assests, they are just not properly accounted for. So we really do not know what we have, nor have we properly depreciated assests. Therefore, on the books 21T is “misssing.” (You can probably throw in some black ops stuff hidden in the appropriation of assets also, a great place to hide that kind of spending.)

It’s too bad we couldn’t have the IRS audit the other government agencies instead of the taxpayers.

So, in other words, he's already pissed away over a billion dollars?

Oh wait - an RT expose article. Nevermind...

I hope you realize Lee Camp is an American, working in America, reporting on American events/issues that take place in America. His show is broadcast to an American audience.

Before you dismiss him, ask yourself why don't we hear stories like this from the so-called mainstream media in the United States?

when that much money is gone, some big chunk was stolen. In an organization as old as the DoD, paperwork is a well known art. If it's a mess, it is because somebody wanted it that way.

There's no way to know how much was stolen, but it certainly wasn't zero or anywhere close to zero.

Look up the Fat Leonard Navy scandal. It only takes a few sticky fingered officers to make off with a bundle.
