Places we plan to see:

Memphis (two days) - Graceland (we have our tickets) Sun Studio, Stax Museum, Peabody Ducks, The Rendevous (over rated???), Shiloh Battlefield, Music club??

Nashville - One night (I know that is not enough) - Cash Museum, Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, Dinning: Hemingways

I should have added: We fly into Memphis, then drive and fly out of Chattanooga.

Nashville. The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson and his recently vandalized tomb.

When in Gatlinburg, day hike half way up the Mount LeConte trail to the walk-behind waterfall. It is nice exercise and free.

Townsend, Tennessee near Gatlinburg has a great tubing biz or for free you can just park along the river and swim/wade in the clear mountain stream.

In Nashville, Visit the Belle Meade Mansion and Percy Warner, Park the same day. At Centennial Park go inside the Parthenon to look upon the giant statue of Athena.

At the Vanderbilt campus visit the base relief wood carving of the Last Supper in the Upper Room Chapel.

Keep in mind...the traffic in the entire area is bumper to bumper. Always allow for time.

In the Great Smoky Mtn NP, hike to Laurel Falls. Paved, about a 30-45 minute hike. Laurels and Rhododendrons should be blooming.

Pucketts Grocery is off the main strip but good food, good live music, and good beer. Most of the tourist district is over run with vagrants. Not as bad as San Francisco, but still disgusting.

It’s really a step back in time. You may even see deer at the tree line. Beautiful. But it is BUSY since the roads were recently paved.

Cherokee, NC is near there, too, but tourist-y.

Nashville - Pancake Pantry for breakfast. Bluebird Cafe in the evening for music (lots of famous musicians have played there), Opry Mills Mall (next to Opryland). My kid is a Vanderbilt graduate, so I’ve been to Nashville quite a bit.

At Centennial Park go inside the Parthenon to look upon the giant statue of Athena.

The first time I saw the giant statue of Athena, I laughed out loud. That was one ugly dame. I hope the Athenians weren't offended. Tough beans if they were.
