Vanity - Trump Critics
3/24/18 | self

Posted on 03/24/2018 12:41:45 PM PDT by Moe-Patrick

To the Freepers blaming Trump for the Omnibus: Please state what he should have done including the aftermath. Many wanted a veto, but never address the subsequent steps necessary for a ‘win’.

I love Free Republic and the thoughtful, intelligent commentary. Yet I was stunned to see so many comment on various posts with such little insight. Trump cannot write legislation nor can he make politicians do anything. What role do voters play? It seems that most expect Trump to fix everything while we as voters do nothing. We voted for the uniparty. We don’t march on Washington, we send our kids to propaganda schools and colleges, we don’t show up period. What are you doing personally to fight and win?

Proper perspective, saying Merry Christmas was hate speech before Trump. Isis attacks were normalized. The only immigration reform being offered was legalizing 11 million. Trump won despite the media, uniparty, FBI, DOJ, criminal investigation, wiretapping, Bush dynasty, Clinton dynasty, illegal voting, and indoctrinated voters. The argument isn’t about Trump’s missteps or wins, it is about saving this country. Trump is the only person fighting to turn it around.

For those still playing armchair quarterback vowing to not vote in 2020, imagine Trump quitting tomorrow, Pence stepping up, or whomever. And play that scenario out. What would change? Would the Congress suddenly become Conservative? Would they repeal Obamacare? Would they build a wall? Would they nix Planned Parenthood? Would they cut spending? Would they balance trade? Would they deal with Iran and NK or appease them? Would they deport DACA recipients plus the 11 million? Would they fight media? Would they fight the progressives openly and loudly? Would they fight for the party?

In summary, Trump can only be as Conservative as the bills handed to him. If you want Conservative bills, attack those writing them. Trump is not God. Be a part of the solution.

In a nutshell:

Vote for Trump - vote for GOP scum: Trump loses.

Vote for Trump - do NOT vote for GOP scum: Trump loses.

Therefore the GOP is the problem.

Who put the GOP scum into power? The voters. Who will vote the GOP out come November? The voters. People do not like being lied to.

Whether or not Trump becomes a Lame Duck come November is an open question.

He simply did the easy swamp thing and sold out all of us who had faith he would be a different kind of president. I agree that he should resign.

Veto was a WIN/WIN for DJT.

Yes it was, but even better is the stale mate in the Senate would have forced Mitch (the bitch) to get rid of the cloture rule so the GOP could get a conservative spending bill to Trump. That makes it a win/win/win. Trump blew it big time, historic opportunity to battle the deep state and Trump caves. Sad.

Trump gets to choose where the 80 Billion for military (just for this year) goes...he’ll just use the Army Core of Engineers to build the wall with some of this money.

He’s toast come this November. As a proud conservative, I would not waste one more breath trying to get another so called republican elected so they can magically turn into a liberal the moment they get sworn in. We’ve simply lost.

“Run that by me again - the part about sending my kids to government schools and not showing up at town halls or local council meetings.”

I’m guessing by your response that you do participate locally. And that is my point, we as citizens should be participating.

To me, the only thing he did wrong was try to explain it away. He looked like a simpering weakling for the first time in his adult life.

Yeah I noticed that too. He should just admit he got rolled and stop trying to sell this horrible omnibus bill as a good thing. He loses credibility every time he and his team try to spin it.

Unfortunately some people don’t want to face reality.

The reality is few of these people were ever Trump supporters in the first place. Most are political posers. Free Republic is loaded with them.

I agree with you.

Trump is not an ideologue. He's not a hard-core conservative and can seem outright liberal at times.

But give him a break. He's a businessman at heart and not a politician. That is a good thing. That is why we elected him, because he's different.

If some think we elected a true conservative, think again. While Trump has done a tremendous amount of work undoing what damage Obama did during his 8 years, he's never claimed to be a true conservative.

He has done some things better than Ronald Reagan but why do conservatives insist on purity in their leaders? No one is like that. If they were, they probably wouldn't be electable.

Trump is doing a great job. Give him credit. The Heritage Foundation says that Trump had accomplished 90% of his campaign promises in his first year in office. This is unprecedented in presidential history.

We should count our blessings and stop complaining we didn't get everything we wrote to Santa about that we wanted for Christmas.

Trump has enough problems fighting off the horde from the Deep State Swamp and his own party. He doesn't need his back left unprotected and exposed by fair-weather supporters, who want to bail on him at the slightest shift in the wind.

Trump is the only man for this job at this point in time in our country's history. Is Trump perfection? No. Is he exceptional? Yes, absolutely.

I read on another thread yesterday that this ‘bill’ is NOT a budget. It is an Omnibus and that Trump can spend the money as he sees fit. Additionally, there is nothing that Congress or anyone else can do about it if he chooses to spend the money where he wants to spend it.

It seems that Obemba did the same thing.

I would like to discover if this is true about the Omnibus. Who would know?

I can’t believe you would write that to freepers - the most committed conservatives on earth. What good does marching on Washington do? That hasn’t worked since the civil rights movement. Why? Because it was the last great moral battle in the country.

I think Trump wanted to veto the bill.

The reason he did not was that by the time he realized what was in the bill it was too late.

I thought Trump needed to go directly to the American people.

I think Trump realized that if he vetoed the bill the Republicans would turn on him and he would end up with a much worse bill.

Until Republicans work with him and not against him there is not much that Trump can do.Everything Trump has accomplished, he has done on his own. Every time Trump tried to work with other Republicans Trump failed.

No, we would not have been better off with Hilary but we now would be better off without Trump. He has sold us out and not sure how to spin what he did in a positive way.
