As you know, I've been wondering about whether the Russia collusion theory was ever a reality or a construct of FBI. I put together a timeline of events, this time including Carter Page and some pivotal events with which you are familiar. Have a look at how it went down.
2013: Carter Page is working for the FBI to help catch spies
June 2015: Trump announces candidacy
Clinton campaign puts down payment on the false dossier
April 2016: Perkins Coie, using money from the Clinton campaign and DNC, hires Fusion GPS. Marc Elias, a Perkins Coie partner and general counsel for both the campaign and DNC, would serve as the bagman.
That month, Federal Election Commission records show that the Clinton campaign paid Perkins Coie a total of $150,000 for legal services. The DNC paid the firm around $107,000. It is unclear how much of that went to Fusion GPS. Both the campaign and DNC would pay Perkins Coie hundreds of thousands more dollars throughout the campaign.
April 2016: Papadopoulos met with Joseph Mifsud
May 2016: Comey decides Clinton is innocent.
May 26, 2016: Trump secures nomination
June 2016: Australia informs US that Papadopoulos has information about Clinton emails when leaked Podesta emails appear online.
The scramble for the emails begins
June 2016: Fusion GPS hires former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and his London-based firm, Orbis Business Intelligence, to investigate Trumps ties to Russia. Steele discloses this in court filings earlier this year as part of a lawsuit he faces over the dossier. Steele said he worked for Fusion GPS from June through November.
June 20, 2016: Steele writes first memo of the dossier. It alleges that Trump used prostitutes during a visit to Moscow in 2013 and that the Kremlin was blackmailing him with the evidence. The memo also alleges that the Trump campaign was engaged in a well-orchestrated collusion campaign with Russian operatives.
July 5, 2016: With Strzok's input, Comey lets Clinton off the hook.
July 19, 2016: Trump officially becomes GOP nominee
July, 2016: Carter Page travels to Russia.
"Back in June 2016, I mentioned in passing that I happened to be planning to give a speech at a university in Moscow," Page told CNN. "Completely unrelated to my limited volunteer role with the campaign and as I've done dozens of times throughout my life."Very curiously, he would later testify without a lawyer.
Pages decision to appear before the committee without a lawyer surprised members, including Conaway. Castro said Pages decision to testify without a lawyer was a first for the committee. You know, as an attorney myself, I certainly would think that somebody would want to have a lawyer with them, but theres also a high cost financially for somebody to be able to afford a lawyer.July 2016: Chatter began appearing on social media referring to damning information about Trumps ties to Russia. Republican strategist Rick Wilson told The New York Times back in January, after the dossier was published, that he was first asked about the document by a reporter in July.
(This is when Steele begins leaking the story to the media)
Late July 2016: FBI opens investigation into Trump-Russia- signed off by Peter Strzok.
I think this started as an investigation into who might have the Clinton emails but then it morphed into the collusion accusation.

sorry for the poor formatting.
Bkmrk - FBI, Trump, Clinton timeline
“Do you know if the Michael isikoff(?) guy is the one named in the Fisa warrant?”
If you mean was he the one whose article was used to “legitimize” the dossier... yes.
Glanced through (did not read but noted their source links) the entire scribd document. While being well formatted and easy to read one item stuck out like a sore thumb. For the most part every one of their source material links goes to a ideologically suspect site. (Well, there is ONE reference I saw that said it was ‘direct from Breitbart’ but the link went to Daily KOS of all places.)
Their sources include NYT, WaPo, Salon, Daily Beast, MSNBC, Politico, Politifact, Wikipedia, Village Voice, Twitter, The Atlantic, Snopes, The Guardian, CNN, Time, Far Right Watch, Reuters, Yahoo, Bloomberg, BBC, Slate, HuffPo, the Steele Dossier, Mother Jones, Daily Beast, Think Progress, NBC News, Time, ABC News, Observer, Newsweek, AP, and even good Ol’ Babs Feinstein and That Schiff thing..
SO get your grains of salt together if you choose to wade through it ..
Papadopoulos... of interest because of Alexander Downer, the “Australian diplomat” who said Papadop bragged about Russian contacts and info on Cankles:
Here he is wearing fishnets and heals: https://twitter.com/davidmackau/status/947221557339766784/photo/1 (oh, just an Australian fundraising tradition, libs say)
And he is one and the same the subject of “multiple allegations of mishandling millions of dollars contributed to the Clinton Foundation by the Australian government.”

Wow. I wish I knew how to copy that!
This needs to be a stand alone post... I don’t usually support ‘vanities’, but this is an exception. Wonderful work.

Giustra also admitted that he arranged the gathering, claiming that the event escaped my memory until you raised it. (NYT 1/31/08)
Mr. Dzhakishev said he had a vivid memory of his Chappaqua visit, and a souvenir to prove it: a photograph of himself with the former president. I hung up the photograph of us and people ask me if I met with Clinton and I say, Yes, I met with Clinton. He said, smiling proudly. (NYT 1/31/08)

October 2010: The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) approves the partial sale of Uranium One to Rosatom, which gives the Russians (and President Vladimir Putin) a 51 percent controlling stake in Uranium One.
