Yes. I guess he thought he was ‘taking a stand’; but he showed himself as not only ‘unmanly’, but undignified.
(Poor thing...his behavior is actually out of character with masculine Hispanic ideals prevalent among the men that I’ve known. The authentic and dignified men of that cultural tradition tend to be full of ‘machismo’ and ‘amor propio’: they don’t run away.)
