Imagine the bond formed between coach and player, from mid-May Organized Team Activities workouts through a playoff run through the following January. Then, you hear that coach is being approached by another team. This is another unnecessary distraction inflicted by losing franchises on teams that should be preparing for the chance at a Super Bowl. This happens repeatedly every season as the teams contacting these coaches aren't affected because they weren't good enough to get past December.
Should teams be prohibited from contacting coaches for jobs until after the Super Bowl?

Makes sense, if you are a coach of a playoff team, you shouldn’t be getting distracted by getting job interviews or offers while you still actively in the playoffs.
Maybe, but true winners aren’t susceptible to sabotage.
What should be eliminated is the stupid Rooney Rule.
Raiders need a new head coach.
Raiders want Jon Gruden to be that coach.
Raiders waste time and money because they have to interview a minority candidate.
Minority candidate also wastes his time and money on a show/sham interview.
Raiders then have to spend time and money to prove they adhered to the Rooney Rule.
...they can approach...if the coach’s team advances their salary would double...if they don’t advance the salary gets cut by half...if they win the super bowl, the sky’s the limit...if they lose the super bowl they have to resign and wait 5 years before coaching anywhere

Good coaches overcome these things.
The NFL has many problems that are much worse than this one.
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels (will be named head coach of the Colts) and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia (will be the head coach of the Lions) have been considered prime candidates for multiple jobs for weeks now, and both are expected to end up elsewhere. Now a third assistant, linebackers coach Brian Flores, has emerged as a candidate to replace Bruce Arians with the Cardinals.
The Patriots will still win the Superbowl this year and will contend for it next year.
But Belichick’s coordinators don’t have a great track record as head coaches.
Bill will teach you everything you know about football, but he won’t teach you everything HE knows about football.
They are. The team with the coach under contract has to give permission for other teams to approach. Now said permission is pretty much always given, but they could decline.
