As a long-ago pilot with extremely rusty skills, I agree with both of you. However, what I found unusual was sending out that Navy ship to recover the remains and the quick burial at sea without an autopsy. That smacked of some sort of cover-up.

Sending out the Navy ship did not surprise me, the son of a former president and the nephew of a long serving senator
with lots of favors to cash it.

I was not aware of no autopsy and burial at sea.
Was that just for JFK jr or all three victims.

Ted Kennedy arranged the naval recovery and burial. It’s possible that he was concerned about a lawsuit from the family who had just lost both daughters. JFK Jr recklessly endangered them by flying under conditions he for which he was not qualified. Had the family wished to fleece the Kennedys, they stood at least a fighting chance.
