Politics is the art of the possible.

President Trump is going to get the best deal for America he can. Neither side is going to get everything they want; we’re going to have as close to a sane immigration policy as we can possibly have given the political damage already done.

If we try to have the Perfect, we’ll end up with nothing.

Just my .02

This is a third rail. Trump’s accomplishments are significant but the tax cut and end of the mandate aside many seem like they aren’t as obvious. But amnesty or renewed DACA would be both easy to understand and blatantly obvious.

Could Trump Risk His Base With the Wrong Immigration Deal?

This is the same article they wrote back in early November, only it was called "Could Trump Risk His Base With the Wrong Tax Plan? back then.

He didn’t win by many votes. Under no circumstances will he win over any Hillary voters. Therefore he can’t lose any of his previous voters which will undoubtedly happen with any amnesty deal.

Don’t know his plan but unless it’s to lose 2020 I hope he has something up his sleeve.

NO risk.

The real Trump base never stops fighting. To drop Trump over a media driven panic pie is to speed dial oneself onto all fours in an assist to mount Marxists right into the saddle.

Trump trolled Yeb! today, with his own remark about a “love” path, or whatever. High larious!

TRUMP *always* said during his campaign that Congress needed to act. The man knows where the legislation action has to happen. DACA needs to end and will.

Will every ILLEGAL college age student be deported?
H&// “NO”. But those OBAMA era illegals hiding out as a DACA college student are SO out of here.

Trump is on thin ice here. The very thing that was his election promise was immigration. The GOP will implode if he renigs on this.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Trump needs to act, to bring back manufacturing jobs to America.

Trump needs to BUILD THE WALL.

Trump needs to start moving, on both of these critical issues.

Now.

NO risk.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Trump signs an amnesty it's over, I certainly will never support or forgive him. There a millions like me and not a single one on the other side to take our place.

I think the minimum Trump can settle for in exchange for legalizing the 800,000 or so DACAs is the $10 billion for the wall and an end to chain migration and the visa lottery.

If he can’t at least get that, then he better say no deal, or he will lose significant support among those who put him in office.

Didn’t like some of the things said at today’s meeting, but we’ll just have to wait and see what develops.

Your sweet nether-region will be expeditiously replaced with new Independent voters, who are also willing to trust Trump to deal cards.

With the wrong deal? Yes. But I'll wait to see what the deal actually is. I heard all kinds of hysteria when Trump met with Pelosi and Schumer a few months ago on this topic - Trump didn't get rolled then and made it clear that any DACA deal would have to also end chain migration and fund the border wall. I expect him to hang tough on these points, and I'd love to see mandatory E-Verify to dry up the economic incentive for illegals and protect American jobs for Americans.

Watching the meting right now. Kevin McCarthy is trying to keep Trump on point with his promises during his campaign. Trump is morphing into a Gramnesty’s best bud.

This hurts my heart. Trump looks like pushover. For the last month, I was so excited to get up every morning to see what good work President Trump was doing for our country.

This meeting has proved he is not “insane” as the left has posed, but slipping on his promises and rallying to us.

Who the hell cares about DACA. Build the damn wall!

1. The Wall

2. Visa entry/exit tracking system

3. People who come over illegally should not be caught and released into the interior but should be immediately deported.

4. End of sanctuary cities

5. End of benefits to illegals

6. End of chain migration

7. End of visa lottery

8. E-Verify

9. End of birthright citizenship

Get all of this and strictly limit DACA amnesty to only those already enrolled and that is a winning deal.

Every bill introduced so far greatly expands eligibility and it will be more like 3-4 million.

I’m apprehensive, and if even smells of potential amnesty, I will be very very disappointed. Unfortunately, I’ve been disappointed by every president in my life time. Reagan gave us the first amnesty, with a promise of border security, which never came about. Every since then it’s been one betrayal after another by both parties.
