Appearing on Fox News last week, actor Scott Baio explained a very important fact about President Trumps rhetorical style. In responding to attacks on the presidents tone and and general fitness for office, Baio had this to say: Im going to help the media right now, okay, Im going to try to help them
Its not going to go anywhere, but Im going to try to help them because theyve called the president, the president has dementia, hes and idiot, hes not mature
Im from Brooklyn, President Trump is from Queens. This is what we do. We mess with people. Thats it.

Meh.
I was raised to distrust people who exaggerate.
Or tell people how smart they are
Or talk about how much money they have.
I make no apology for my values, anybody who is offended can KMA.
And without something written for him to read, he couldn’t put together a complete sentence, not to mention all of the mispronunciations ( corpse anyone ?), the stupidity ( he’s been to 57 states...HUNH ? ),and the phumphering: uuuuuuuuuummmmms/ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhs/hmmmmmmmmmmmmms, and Is, Mes, etc.!
Not just NY either. I’m from Mass and it was the same way. And you know hollywood knows this. Just watch Good Will Hunting. Friends cussing each other out, putting each other down, yet they’re friends and stick with each other, help each other.
I moved down to FL and worked with a guy. We were becoming friends and I started messing with him. One day he said he was going to slam me on the concrete if I kept talking to him like that. I explained that it was the way friends talked to each other where I came from and that if I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t even be talking to him. He understood completely once I said that. He’d probably seen plenty of movies with Yankees in it talking the same way, like Rocky etc.
Most everyone knows. They just don’t know they know.
Oh, yeah, they liked her. She taught them how to knit. I’ve always liked her. Yes, she’s tough but I don’t have to live with her!
His use of Yiddisms, phrases like “He’s a real beaut!” always give him away. His whole manner is working-class/construction worker which is what upsets the media. They wanted a dog in the manger and they’ve got the wolf of Wall St.
Dads mother was from Calabria, his dad Naples. Where he got Hes a real beaut! I dont know. I dont know if its Yiddish or just New York.
I do know he would often chastised me when I messed up with youre a real beaut!
That’s not a Yiddism (I didn’t mean to say that), that’s just a NYC phrase from the mid-20th century still used by some folks, including Trump.
It's where my family moved from Brooklyn when I was a teen.
Not too far from Brooklyn though: Glendale.
I do know he would often chastised me when I messed up with youre a real beaut!
I vote for New York'ish. Sounds like something Jackie Gleason (a Brooklynite) or Rodney Dangerfield (Nassau County, Long Island) would say. I remember hearing it when I was a kid.
But if you get beyond the attitude and some of the quips from his TV days and speeches - he really did speak to the ideas of straight-talk, integrity, hard work, freedom and no BS politics that is the heart of fly-over country.

Agree. Also, I think we Deplorables see him as a real person and not some cardboard cutout who wants to say the “right” things just to keep a cushy DC lifestyle. I love that he hits back at the media instead of apologizing. Some of his tweets make me wince, but I love that he says things that I would like to say to the elites in the media and in politics.
Fighting is not my style. Waste of time, IMO.
So you prefer men to be neutered. I see...
