Tried to enlist at 33 after 9/11. At 240 pounds they said come back when you lose enough. In my weakness, I couldn’t get to the required weight.

I boxed for a number of years in my late teens and 20s.

And I’ve always thought if you haven’t boxed and you are watching a boxing match you are watching something you can’t possibly fully understand unless you’ve boxed. EVERY punch hurts!! :)
