Tech billionaire Tom Draper filed a measure Friday to divide California into three states.
Draper says the "political representation of California's diverse population and economies has rendered the state nearly ungovernable."
"The citizens of the whole state would be better served by three smaller state governments while preserving the historical boundaries of the various counties, cities and towns," he argued in the proposed measure's statement of findings.
The billionaire spent more than $5 million in 2014 in a bid to split the state in six, according to the Sacramento Bee.
His current measure needs almost 600,000 signatures from valid voters to make it onto the ballot next fall.
Draper proposes naming the three states "California," "Northern California" and "Southern California."
The plan says, pending approval from the U.S. Congress, the three states would remain in the U.S., as opposed to the "Calexit" effort aiming for California's independence from the U.S.
6 Senators from California is not happening. Guaranteed.
I’d want the Philippines to become a state before this happens. They actually like the United States.
His 2014 proposal was to cut it into six states.
I’d sooner see a Calexit referendum pass — and then let the chips fall where they may.
no way does SoCal want LA in it’s boundries
It’ll never fly, but I’d love it. It would peel some of the electoral votes away from the DNC.
“His current measure needs almost 600,000 signatures from valid voters to make it onto the ballot next fall. “
Not happening.
He should spend his money on more productive things.
Left California
Lefter California
Leftist California
BTW - I live in CA.
When are you moving here?
Let’s just have Blue California and Red California. They would cancel each other out.
North Pelosi , central Pelosi and South Pelosi

Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake,
Lassen, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Napa,
Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Siskiyou, Shasta, Tehama, Trinity,
Tuolumne, Sacramento, San Joaquin, San Francisco, San Mateo,
Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sierra, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus,
Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.

the people of that state, including the territory represented by

Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mono, Orange,
Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego.
What’s in it for Mr. Draper? If CA splits. Answer that and you’ll find the real reason for his suggestion.
Can’t get the Wife to leave, CA born and raised, and we have other Family obligations here.
I’m working on it though. LOL
Maybe he’s crazy enough to spend himself into poverty for this absurd idea that will never happen. Can’t figure out why people even promote this idea, spend money on it. It is ridiculous. Better they spend their energy, time, and money fixing the state, like recognizing the Constitution, kicking out illegal aliens, etc. Make California Great Again.
I don’t think the freaks in California should have SIX Senators. It’s bad enough that they have two.
Based on those boundaries, all 3 would be Democrat majority states giving them 6 Communist Senators instead of 2 and 3 Communist Governors and legislatures instead of 1. This is a big “HELL, NO !”
I seem to recall discussing this with you before. They’d be entitled to around a third of the House seats. I’m sorry, that’s madness.
I understand. I had a great job set up on Kwajalein in the Pacific with a Navy contractor. She wouldn’t leave Des Moines. Period.
