Canada’s Disturbing Independence Day Gift to America

A U.S. judge granted $134.2 million in damages in 2015, but the plaintiffs acknowledged then that there was little chance they would collect any of the money from Khadr because he lives in Canada

Rebel media.com CEO Ezra Levant is right in tweeting that Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “chose July 4th as the day to announce he’ll pay $10,000,000 to an unrepentant Al Qaida terrorist who killed an American.”

By choosing today for his stunning announcement, is Trudeau hoping to hoopla-hide that rather than the apology and $10 million he’s giving Omar Khadr, who pled guilty of killing U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer and blinding Sgt. 1st Class and Special Forces Engineer Layne Morris in his right eye during a 2002 firefight at an al-Qaida compound in Afghanistan, he should have recused himself from both apology and award?

Well, now that Khadr has assets, there must be some way to file a legal action against him and, maybe, cause his benefactor Trudeau some trouble. There were judgments against Iran. Perhaps something similar could be pursued against Khadr and Canada.

Another ankle bite by the angry poodle in the Justin Trudeau Bambi vs Godzilla grudge match with Donald Trump.

Canada gives 10 million to a terrorist to poke America in the eye in a gesture so inexcusable very few Canadians can support it and most can be very embarrassed..

This is a slow pitch across the center of home plate for Trump to hammer out of the park at Canada's expense

Donald Trump guts Canada's entire energy development plan and negates $400 billion in Canadian tar sands investments.

I suspect President Trump will put enormous political and judicial pressure and possibly sanctions on Justin baby's country to allow the victims of this dudes terrorism to seize the settlement and the more the Trudeau government resists, the worse they look.

Another self inflicted wound by Justin Trudeau, but ordinary Canadians will be the ones to suffer.

I wonder if Canada suffers from voter fraud to the extent that our big blue cities suffer...
Would explain a lot.

I used Wikipedia to update my own knowledge of Khadr. It ended with the laconic comment that the compensation would be shared by Khadr and his lawyers. Ah lawyers! One of them called Edney, a Scottish native, invited Khadr to stay with him and his wife. This to assure his quick release from custody. He had his 15 minutes of fame as a "humanitarian". To say nothing of the lovely Bawbees he will pocket.

Canada still a nation of diverse opinions and beliefs. All of us certainly do not parrot the official Justin Trudeau platitudes. The press very unsympathetic to any diverse views. Sort of like the American MSM when the former president was in office. One could imagine, if one did not know any better, he had a 80 percent approval rating. (JMHO).

Politically speaking, Canadians as a whole are just idiots

Some uncalled for generalizations and characterizations here…. Some of these comments are as stupid as suggesting that one has all Americans and their politics figured out on the basis of what one sees in California and New York etc., no? Ontario has a far left liberal government and yet in the last election (2014), the real story of how they got into power was what happened in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) where they thrashed the Conservatives to the tune of 35 to 2 in ridings. Federally, one sees some strange results in a three or more party system…. Trudeau and his band of thieving Liberals only got 39.42% of the vote but that was enough to snag 55% of the seats. As for the GTA, the Liberals took virtually all the seats and to a large extent, that’s what put them into power.

Canada and the States are actually quite similar with regards to a ‘red-blue divide’, urban-rural divide or whatever….. it might get called something else but it’s essentially the same thing. Take the GTA out of the loop and Canada electorally would be a totally different place. So if you want to talk about ‘idiot Kanucks that you aren’t overly fond of’, you might want to specify that you making those remarks about folks from Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. As for the real Canadians in other locations, there are plenty who are absolutely disgusted with how leftwing the States has become and wonder how on earth folks who otherwise seem reasonably intelligent managed to elect Obama.

Your post #13.

Nice to see someone "over the river" clarifying the situation. I hope I do not bore the good folks on FR with repeating the actual way Canada has of choosing a Justin Trudeau. He is elected by his party at a convention as leader. No one gets his name on an election ballot, except in his district. He has to battle it out there. I will concede that he probably would have been elected as prime minister in a head to head vote. All style and charisma does seem to push many otherwise intelligent voters.

Slowly, very slowly some of the press are carping about him. Oh well..... so it goes!

150th what?

Certainly not as a sovereign country.

Canada's Parliament didn't even gain the privilege of amending the Canadian Constitution without British Parliament until 1982 and even today QEII is Queen of Canada.

That said, if Britain wants to run themselves down the road of ruin by importing terrorists and turning london over to the jihadis, that's their prerogative....but they should get their puppet Trudeau in line and prevent them from financing terrorists who attack the United States armed forces, citizens, and interests.

Having spent plenty of time on both sides of the boarder, I think that Canadians as a rule trust the media more than Americans do…. and sad but true, there are plenty of older Canadians who treat what comes out of the CBC as gospel (and CTV is just as bad). In that regard, Canadians are lagging the trend of the US where vast groups of voters have no use for the media and consider it to ONLY be propaganda for the left. Having said that, I now know plenty of folks who read their copy of The Rebel quite religiously. I’m less excited about ‘the press carping about him’ than I am about the prospect that CBC/CTV will start to be regarded with the same level of disdain by Canadians as CNN/NBC is by Americans. When that happens, what the press does/thinks/says won’t matter….they will have become irrelevant.

in the future please get your targets in order before letting loose with your verbal accusations! I did not say the Kanucks are stupid. I DID say I am not overly fond if them. I’ve known many over the years including my roommate in College. I find them overly touchy, always looking for a free ride at someone else’s expense, often deceptive, and completely blind when it comes to the Royal family. That’s my opinion. OTOH, the Aussies hold up their end of the bargain and don’t back away from a fight.

You mean like electing Obama TWICE?! Put away your broad brush, most Canadians didn't vote for JT.

Whatever…. You didn’t have much good to say about Canadians and now you’re just spouting off more generalizations and characterizations. A few years ago, I saw a breakdown by country of who has signed up for and posts on FR… the number of Canadians was not insignificant and although not quite in proportion to the population ratio of the U.S. and Canada, it wasn’t far off. So with that in mind, are you suggesting that Canadians posting on FR are “more touchy, always looking for a free ride at someone else’s expense, often deceptive, and completely blind when it comes to the Royal family?” If the answer is yes, I think you should be prepared to back that assertion up to all the Canadians posting here. If the answer is no, than it would appear that you are agreeing with my original comments in Post #13.

I am not going to waste my time on your defense of Canada. I have my opinions formed over more than 50 years. You have yours which you have the right to state just as I have the right to state what I think. Frankly, at this point in history, it appears to me that Canada is giving away its right to free speech. Expect other freedoms to fall by the wayside with Trudeau.
