This has been debated before. The answer is that most American Jews are from urban areas and urban areas lean way Left. In other words their liberalism trumps their Judaism.
I'd also suggest that there's another factor related to that. It goes back to the Gospels. The Jews at the time chose Caesar, and it seems like ever since then they've had an unhealthy, pathological fixation on giving authority to the state that belongs to God.
It never ends well for them, does it?
Yup. Is there any other group that chooses to live in urban areas at the same % as Jews that then votes any differently in those areas? The problem is that that polling data from rural living Jews is pretty sparse. They would usually just get lumped in with ‘other’.

Jews migrate toward urban areas, because they are liberal, not the reverse.
It suggests they are more group thinkers, and less individual, as a suburban or rural mindset. They are feel safer depending on social assistance, instead of live and let live.
MOST Jews who have abandoned TORAH/ISRAEL/NATION/PEOPLEHOOD and supplanted it with the sacred word “Justice” uphold the edifice of “I love humanity down to the dirt under their toenails and will sacrifice myself on this alter, just don't call me “clannish”, racist or bigoted. This is the ultimate and original Political Correctness, (PC).
It is the Jews themselves that hold PC aloft, on high, to the point of absurdity.
This exaggerated caring for all peoples uber alles always means that Jews are in the forefront of social change, whether it be inventing Psychoanalysis, the Russian Revolution or the invention of the Theory of Relativity and the A-Bomb.
They are assimilated and ignorant Jews. They champion all causes except their own survival and will bend over backwards to the rest of the planet just to be loved and accepted.
They will say, “Oh, I'm not THAT kind of Jew”, meaning either being associated with a Zionist or a Torah-observing Jew, i.e., religious. This form of apology has existed forever.
Jews who embrace this humanity hug-fest even at their own expense, cannot help themselves because they suffer from a disease called “TLH”, or Terminal Liberal Hemorrhoids and there is no ointment for this problem save, being Jewish, being proud and or being a Zionist.
So while they overwhelmingly supported Obama and Hillary, there are still many Jews like myself who are Conservative, patriotic and Zionist.
That and there are plenty of communist JINOs in media who will slam the Conservatives in the country slandering their character as racists or NAZIs because the country folk stand against communism and socialism.
I read the book. What I got out of it is that a liberal is a liberal FIRST!
