Trump Officially Suggests Solar Wall On Southern Border

President Donald Trump confirmed during his Iowa rally Wednesday that he is considering building a border wall with solar panels.

A source told The Daily Caller earlier this month that Trump raised the idea of solar panels during a meeting with congressional leaders. (RELATED: Trump Proposed Solar Panel Covered Border Wall)

During Wednesday’s rally, Trump promised his supporters that he was still going to build a wall on the southern border to prevent illegal immigration and drug peddling.

“And yes, we will build the wall,” he said. “We’ve already started planning–it will be built.”

“And I’ll give you an idea that nobody has heard about yet,” Trump teased. “We’re talking about the southern border. Lots of sun, lots of heat. We’re thinking about building the wall as a solar wall.”

Trump argued the energy created by the solar panels could help the wall pay for itself

Natural Gas does nothing for anybody running a server/communications network. Not as a back-up anyway.

That ride-through must be less than 120ms.

Where does that come from?

Not a bad idea.

It would take a lot of juice to electrify that long of a fence/wall.

Oh, and the laser cannons pointed south will need a lot of power also.

I have a University level degree in Electrical Engineering, which is not selective reading.

Trump’s solar proposal is strictly political, since solar is a failed, miniscule technology. Any power to The Wall will require coal, natural gas, diesel etc, not wind or solar.

But I am for marking graffiti on The Wall in the form of advanced differential equations of Maxwell’s equations of electro-magnetics. That sure beats LA Mexican gutter graffiti. Add some intellectual gringo artistry.

Any thoughts if I can retro-fit my existing panels ?

Everybody stop. It is a leg of energy. It does not go a gazillion miles.

It is supplanted by the amount needed by half. A solar plant along the way has no problem supplying and storing this power.

It can be backed up with generators and UPS systems to ensure it does not fail.

Think people.

Not one of Trump's better ideas :-) He is trying to pander to the left and it won't help.

THE SOLAR WALL

Bingo!

We can shame Democrats as “Renewable-phobes” if they oppose the solar wall. I believe that is the politics going on behind the curtain.

From now on, call it the Solar Wall!

This has to be fake news. The Mexicans will break and cover those panels with rocks and dirt faster than they cross the border

I can agree to a hard grid but it will still need a gas and battery back-up to stay 100% on-line. I think a solar solution could do it.

Congrats on your education.

Of course he could reclassify the walk as a solar power project and fund it with those green power money.

See post #38:

There is already a design proposal for the solar wall

This is what it looks like:

“Any power to The Wall will require coal, natural gas, diesel etc, not wind or solar.”

Why does the wall need power?

That is a good one. I takes my theory away.

This design is easy to protect. Mine has the panels away from the wall at some distance.

You are going to have SCADA devices every 100ft and Cameras every 100ft. You will have sensors all over the place. No digging or even walking within 50ft.

That takes power.
