What are the rules for new sign-ups on Freerepublic?

I signed up in 1998 and posted a few minutes later, I have encouraged others to do so lately and all they are experiencing are roadblocks. What are the current rules for new sign -ups as for responding and posting? Thanks

There are possibly several devices which may create “roadblocks” to posting. It is rumored that there are (1)LIB-O-Meters, (2) Lunatic-O-Meters, (3)Troll-O-Meters, (4) DIM-O-Meters...and several more being developed at Super Secret labs. Be careful...be very careful.

New people posts are looked at by Moderators, before being added to thread. Usually a few posts and it goes to immediate posts.
Probably some posts by newbies that were very inappropriate caused the change. Good posts will cause the delay to go away.

I signed up in late 2014, after lurking for over a decade. If I recall, there were a few days where I couldn’t do certain things - can’t remember if I could not post, or could not respond to a post. It only lasted a while. I don’t think that policy was in force from the beginning of FR, but was begun later.
