Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz told employees that President Donald Trump was creating "chaos" that was hurting the U.S. economy, according to a video obtained by Business Insider.

The video was taken at a staff meeting in Seattle in February, Business Insider said.

In the video, Schultz tells employees that there is "a tremendous amount of pressure and anxiety in America." He goes on to speculate that these feelings are hurting consumer behavior.

Schultz went on to tell employees that the coffee chain can provide "an antidote" by providing a "sense of community" to its customers.

Starbucks replied to a request for comment and confirmed the remarks captured.

"We can confirm that these comments were made by then-CEO Howard Schultz during a private meeting at the Starbucks Support Center in Seattle with our business leadership team on February 17," Starbucks said in an email to CNBC.

"It's important to note the timing of these comments, as they were made over three months ago and were centered around the sensitivity required for success in the retail business during that period of time. Also important to understand the full context for this comment as Howard also said: 'We have an antidote. We always have. And that's the sense of community, the third place, and the environment that we create around family.' "

The 63-year-old Schultz stepped down as Starbucks' CEO in early April, but remains the coffee chain's chairman....

You don't need community. They sell Starbucks coffee drinks on the refrigerated supermarket shelf. I bought one because it had a red sales tag on it. They red tag stuff that gets close to the expiration date.

Is this the clown who lost business by claiming it was his priority to hire refugees?

Well, it is kind of true. Many who are winning in Trump’s economy wouldn’t get within ten feet of Starbucks mud. For corporations with a Starbucks attitude, a whole lot of Deplorables aren’t going to enable them by spending money for their products.

I think for a while...maybe up until 10 years ago...Starbucks held the control on five-star coffee. If you go and test McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, or any of the dozen big-name stops for coffee today....they all serve the same basic level as Starbucks. There’s no quality difference.

I live in Germnay, and can say that Starbucks is having a heck of a time getting established because traditionally....for over a hundred years....German cafes and bakeries made five-star coffee. If you walk into a German cafe...order a coffee and a cheese cake...you are paying 30-percent less than what you’d pay at Starbucks. The Starbucks gimmick here is not working. Maybe in high-end business areas, they survive....but 95-percent of the German public aren’t buying into Starbucks coffee.

The guy’s delusional. The economy is turning around. Nobody wants to buy overpriced ashtray juice from a red diaper baby CEO. He’s upset about the free market.

Amen to that FRiend.

I get my coffee from Publix, in a two-pound Decaffeinated Colombian can.

I’d sooner pass through a needle’s eye than patronize Starbucks. Some of McDonald’s McCafe drinks are really fine and reasonably priced.

I was happy to find Starbucks after living in Europe for a few years, because American coffee is opaque water when compared to European coffee.

I can see why Starbucks would have trouble making it in Europe.

On the other hand, when I went to Korea, I saw Starbucks all over. It has really taken off there.

It looks like he’s trying to blame Trump for his own bad business decisions - promising to hire a bunch of illegals hurt the bottom line and, like Hillary and the rest of the Left, someone else just has to be at fault.
