Dont fall for the teaser to get you to be a Click Bait number for this Clickbot poster.
Read Windfliers reply to another Freeper r why this site is to be avoided and not clicked on!
“The topics and commentary provided in these postings (while I dont normally go to a source provided) in any event I find welcome andI such complaints frivolous and dismissable.”
That attitude is precisely what allows a clickbot like Sean_Anthony to survive and thrive here. He operates with impunity, because our members can’t see the actual mechanics of his operation. Out of sight - out of mind, as they say.
Have you ever heard the term, monetization?
In a nutshell, it’s setting up a website so that it makes money. Primarily, it’s done by building enough traffic so that it becomes an attractive location for advertisers to place their ads. The more traffic your website gets, the more money advertisers will pay you to be there.
Some popular websites are so monetized, they produce thousands of dollars per month for their owners. I recently read that some sites produce as much as $5 per unique visit for the site owners. If your site is monetized that deeply, it pays to find every way you can to generate clicks.
That’s a thumbnail sketch of what Sean_Anthony is doing here. You care about the content of the excerpts he posts, but he couldn’t care less. You’re just a potential source of revenue to him. I’d hazard to guess that Sean_Anthony makes more money from Free Republic than JimRob does.
Do you really support that? In your heart, I’ll bet you don’t.

CFP is worth it. As long as it’s not MY $5 I’m fine.
BTW, I’m so anal at this stuff that I’ll use one browser to search on an Item I want to buy and use a different browser to actually go to the site and buy the item.
Thanks, now if people would just pay attention.
I’m kind of seeing your post as the equivalent of “why pay $40 for a steak dinner when you can make your own for $12?”
There really is a reason for it. And I don’t begrudge giving the money to someone who earns the extra money. What I saw in the CFP article was interesting information that took time and effort to produce.
Saw another FR “poster” called out for the same thing this morning, can’t remember the handle.
Allowing Spam Anthony and his ilk to do this encourages others.
Well said.
Isn’t this the same with all excerpted articles?
If Sean Anthony is doing all of the things you say he is then good for him! Isn’t America such a great country that people can innovate and come up with ways to provide a product and earn a living in such creative ways?
If I didn’t enjoy the articles I read on CFP I wouldn’t bother and the fact that CFP makes some money from them doesn’t bother me in the least. That’s how the New Media has to operate since they don’t sell newspapers or magazines.
I’d just hope that CFP is making regular contributions to FR since they depend on FR for at least part of their success.

Thanks GD and windflier. I clicked the site just to see how many bots my AdBlocker picked up from that one click. 18! I’m tired of monetizing these bots myself.
Thanks!
