For years, Democrats have tried to cajole Chris Kennedy into running statewide in Illinois, hoping that the wealthy son of the late Robert F. Kennedy could parlay his exalted family name into high office.
So when Kennedy finally announced a bid for governor in February, comparisons to Camelot abounded. He took the early lead in polling and drew an almost immediate endorsement from a coalition of county chairmen in Southern Illinois.
Now, three months later, Kennedy has fallen out of favor with key labor groups and powerful forces within the Democratic establishment. And hes facing a roadblock thats unfamiliar to his family: pressure to drop out of the race.
Theres mounting evidence that powerful Democratic players in the state from House Speaker Michael Madigan to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel are steering unions, interest groups or politicians to throw their support behind billionaire J.B. Pritzker, the brother of former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.

Of course Pritzer is just as a big a piece of garbage. With Chris Christie on the way out democrats figure they need their own obese Governor.
So ironic, they’ve been talking about getting Chris to run since at least 2002, he finally does and they like some other rich a-hole better. LOL.
Seeing a lot of Pritzger commercials already. One mentioned he’s “had a big impact” with charity or something. My mom: “The only thing he had an impact on is his chair, when he sits down it’s liable to break”.
They see him as more able and willing to self-fund than Chrisy boy.
flr
He runs the family trusts so he could siphon a fair amount off for his campaign.
That explains why he (Kennedy) became the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the University of Illinois from 2009 to 2015 with no discernible qualifications other than the family name.
“Kennedy”
I always think of overflowing toilets/septic systems and the bowels of Hell (see the theme?) when I hear that name.
Totally off topic: I watched “Driving Miss Daisy” last night, first time in 25? years I’ve seen it. Two points:
1. Morgan Freeman should have won Best Actor for that movie.
2. The ending was so sad. Just what I needed to see on Mother’s Day.
He had qualifications. He did a terrible job running the Merchandise Mart for several years.
As usual we have a dem primary that’s AIDS vs. ebola.
I was too young to appreciate that film when I saw it. I should add it to the list.
Speaking of awards, did you hear MTV (now totally irrelevant) decided to make their acting awards “gender neutral”? Gag me. Some bald dyke actress who says she’s not a boy or girl suggested it, and they took her up on it.
Which Democrat do you hope will win their governor primary? I hope Sen. Biss will win it. I’m also glad that he’s not running for re-election, causing the 9th state senate district to have an open race for the first time since 2002. When I lived in that district (which includes Wilmette, most of Glenview, and most of Northbrook), I thought that district had a lot of Republicans, but I don’t think anyone has announced, for that race.
Biss is catering to the far left as isn’t rich. So yeah I’d love for him to win the primary instead of Prickger or Kennedy cause Rauner would have an easier time with him.
Biss was elected to the Senate by a 2-1 margin in 2012 and reelected without opposition. The district also includes Evanston, it’s hard to imagine a Republican is gonna win it. BOE website doesn’t have candidate filings for 2018 up yet.
100% watch it.
“...Just what I needed to see on Mothers Day...”
On that day, you take out the best pictures of your mama, the candid pictures, the pictures where the sunshine is on her face, and the sky is blue, and she’s smiling...
And you memorize those images, one after the other.
Because that’s what every mother wants from her kids - to be remembered and have a smile on their faces when they think of her.
Hell.... that’s all ANY of us want from those we love, ultimately.
Yes, yes.
