LOS ANGELES (AP) — Carol Burnett typically spends her mornings doing crossword puzzles with her husband, but the comedy legend could return to a full-time work schedule if the pilot she recently shot for ABC becomes a regular series.

In “Household Name,” produced by Amy Poehler, Burnett plays an eccentric, aging movie star who arranged to continue living in her old mansion even though the home’s new owners, a young family, have already moved in....

I remember she did a spin off of Falcon Crest .... it was called Fresno and she was growing raisins [instead of the more prosaic wine].

Tim Conway came late to the show. Carol carried it for many years before he came on board. It ran many years and was genuinely funny.

There’s no television like this anymore. Very rarely even a sitcom on the level of those in the ‘sixties.

LOL! I can remember many old people who remained hilarious into ripe old age. Victor Borgia?

Oddly, it was the original French version of ‘The Tall Blond Man with the One Black Shoe’. Even watching in French with subtitles, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much at the movies.

I think the book that made me laugh most was Tom Wolfe’s ‘The Right Stuff’. The movie was good, but the book was hilarious.

It sounds like it's based on her "Nora Desmond" character that she played on her variety show. If the right writers are working with her, it could be good.

her style humor and performaces at age 40 cannot be recreated at age 80.

Hopefully, Carol Burnett will be the exception to the rule. I remember when Lucille Ball tried to launch another sitcom in the mid 1980s called "Life With Lucy." It didn't last very long, and was painful to watch. I watched a couple of episodes and felt bad for her. What worked well for Lucy in the 50s and 60s didn't work at all in the 1980s.

Harvey Korman died in 2008 at 81 years of age. Comedy gold.

Here is her song on Glee as Sue Sylvester’s Nazi-hunting mother, 2011:

She looks and sounds incredibly great at then-aged 78 (now she is 84). What a trouper!

Her show was the best comedy on television ever, better than Lucy.

Tim Conway is still with us, age 83 — 8 months younger than Carol.

I saw Tim Conway perform live several years ago. He did a number of the routines from the Carol Burnett Show, including his classic "dentist" skit. He had a guy named Chuck McCann with him doing Harvy Korman's role (you would know Chuck McCann if you saw him - he's appeared in numerous TV shows over the years.) He had a young lady open for him who sang and did impersonations (don't remember her name.) She did the Carol Burnett part in the skits.

She’s too old. Old people aren’t funny

Biased much? Bob Hope and Jack Benny kept going until age 100, and were still funny. Don Rickles was hilarious, and he just died at age 90, having appeared on Jimmy Fallon within the prior year. Joan Rivers -- people were posting on the Met Gala stories this week how much they wished she were still around to make her funny comments on the awful clothing -- she died at 81, still working every day.

What is worse is there are some versions that cut the f@rting sounds around the campfire.

That is what I was saying, stop while you still have the glow of former success. Don't try to recreate the magic of yesteryear, it usually fails miserably.
