When asked why hes a skeptic, Happer a real scientist explained that climate change alarmism is built on a dishonest foundation. Let me point out that science is not like passing a law, he said.
You dont have a vote to say how many are for the law of gravity and how many are against its based on observations.
And if you observe whats happening to, for example, the temperature, the temperature is not rising nearly as fast as the alarmist computer models predicted.
Its much, much less factors of two or three less.
So the whole basis for the alarmism is not true,
its based on flawed computer modeling.
Nye, who is not a real scientist, immediately shot back at Happer.
Thats completely wrong, Nye shot back.
Hes cherry picking a certain model.
The heat ended up in the ocean.
This is not controversial in mainstream science, everybody.
Nye added that he encourages everyone to look at the facts.
For years, climate change alarmists said the polar ice caps would melt completely by the mid-2010s causing the sea levels to rise by meters,
which would then put low-lying coastal areas across the world under water.
None of these things ever happened.
In fact, ocean waters have not warmed on an overall average basis, despite claims made by people like Nye and former Vice President Al Gore.
Not only that, but a recent National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the government agency that monitors the climate, whistleblower said the agency for years manipulated climate data for political reasons meaning to show that climate change is happening when it really isnt.
Still, Nye spouted his talking points and lectured Happer for being a climate change denier.
He said:
Troll Alert!
“Happers a physicist not a climatologist; his views on climate change are bought and paid for by the Energy lobby”
Are you a bot?
(sigh) Okay. Fine.
Happened to see this live while channel surfing, and it was great. Nye, a skinny version of Algore, was unable to counter any of the very well presented points of the physicist, so he filibustered to keep Dr. Happer from getting more time. Nye is a fake scientist, who has no background in science, but is ‘’deemed” one by the Democrat media because he played on on a long-ago kids’ TV show. Typical.
Prove it.
I trust Bill Nye to lead me on science issues just as much as I trust Captain Kangaroo to pilot my cruise ship thru a field of ice bergs.
This is the polite way that a Globull Warming alarmist calls someone a Nazi.
Leftists, they’re always blowing something.
The guy has a history of taking money in exchange for talking about how great CO2 is for the environment (not even his field ) as long as those ‘donations’ can be kept quiet.
I went back and read Number's posting history. While I don't necessarily agree with all the points made throughout, they're all well-reasoned and researched posts. I don't think he/she is either a troll or a bot.
Please don't succumb to the growing trend on here of making knee-jerk reactionary posts when someone casts doubt on a premise.
The irony here is: it's exactly what Bill Nye is doing in the interview.
I certainly reacted to the notion that skeptics are on the secret payroll of Big Oil.
I also believe that geologists, physicists, et al have a perfect right to speak publicly on matters of physical science.
If CAGW climatology is more than a charlatan’s guild, then let it be scientifically transparent, as all other serious disciplines are. Open the data!
Computer models? Paugh!
American-style Lysenkoism is still bullsh*t.
What exactly is wrong with that?
Are you saying that his opinion on CO2 was formed in order to cash in on money from oil companies? Or could it be that he had this opinion first and was then able to make money off of it?
Furthermore, I don’t see how certain aspects of climatology would not be in his field considering that he is a physicist. My background in nuclear engineering. I know enough about radiation to see that most “climatologists” don’t seem to really understand electromagnetic radiation. Yet they have no problem tossing around the term infrared to the public as if it’s just this one specific thing and not a spectrum.
Also, I would take whatever was written in The Nation with a grain of salt. Doubtful you are getting the whole truth from that agenda-filled progressive publication.
“...The guy has a history of taking money in exchange for talking...”
Hmmm... let’s extend that logic:
Do you think there is a HISTORY of Nye getting paid to be on these programs?
Or, do you think there is a HISTORY of Algore (perchance one of your heroes?) getting paid to give his speeches?
A physicist is far more qualified to speak on the effects of CO2 on climate than an engineer. I'm a biochemist, and I am also far more qualified to speak on the effects of CO2. That is because CO2 is a chemical and obeys immutable physical principles. Both physicists and chemists understand the physical properties of atoms and molecules because they have studied these subjects for years. Being a biochemist, I have also studied biology, and so can discuss the crucial role of CO2 in maintaining life on earth.
I’m a biochemist. I value precision when speaking of scientific matters.
And why, exactly, would CO2 *not* be good for the environment? Do you know what would happen if the "global warming" alarmists successfully found a way to remove CO2 from the air?
CO2 is essential for life. Every living thing is composed of carbon-based molecules, which are made from CO2.
And who is that exemplar of vapidity in the lower left corner? She must be from the Valley.

LMAO! Wonderful observation, and well said!
NONSENSE!
My husband, an actual Scientist, says that Nye is considered bogus and a hack among legit scientists. A joke. As far as he knows, the guy has never been published in a peer-review situation or done any serious work.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So, this faux scientist is who the Gore indoctrinated snowflakes come up with to defend their climate scam? Pitiful!
No? Then Im compelled to ask: who bought and paid for your views?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nicely done!
Lol! That made me think that perhaps the "science guy" has a bunch of rube goldberg devices all over his house.
