Trump vows to fight Freedom Caucus just as he fights the Democrats

Defeat from the jaws of victory

You know what their response is going to be, of course. They’re going to complain that the White House and the leadership are putting forth terrible bills that don’t really repeal ObamaCare but institutionalize government-run health care for generations. I’ve already told you why I don’t agree with them, and Rob’s already told you why he does.

So let’s skip all that and see what Trump himself has to say about the matter:

I saw that tweet this morning and hoped I read it wrong. What is he thinking? Very bad move Mr President.

Siding with those who seek to destroy him and attacking those who wish to see him succeed seems like a dumb thing to do.

The media is still falling all over themselves to fill those blank pages.

The there's Hillary...the lady with 2 L's on her forehead....and a Health Care Plan that didn't even get to first base.

The press/msm are always self-justifying. In their view they never err.

He is slapping the very people that voted for him right in the face. Almost as if he’s trying to remove the conservatives from politics.

He keeps this up, he loses me. And I’m sure that a lot of other people are thinking the same way.

Has the deep state gotten to him, is he working the deal, or is he showing himself to be a liberal?

Maybe the freedom caucus is not what they say they are.

I guess all you Freedom Caucus bashers would rather that we left Eric Cantor in office so that they could have passed Rubio’s amnesty in June 2014 to clear it off the table for Yeb! as planned, and there would have been no President Trump.

I’m thrilled to have Dave Brat and if Trump wants to be my political opponent than it’s his choice.

He is trying to bring the Nation together and look for mutual goals so that rather than stagnate we can move forward on what we can agree on.

By taking the highroad in this manner he can but those who don’t work with him on the defensive later on and be justified in excluding or working around them.

It is actually very threatening to the Dems to have him reach out to them that way because they are going to have to come to the table and be counted. They can’t hide behind attacking and being the No party. If they push for Big Government solutions that have failed there will be discourse and they will have to own the fact that their policies have put America in debt and disarray. They will be hoist on their own petard.

I’m listening to Rush Limbaugh defend the freedom caucus today. I listened to him the day the bill was considered and he absolutely defended the bill.

“He is slapping the very people that voted for him right in the face.”

It doesn’t matter how many times you guys keep repeating it on the 10000000000000000000000000000 reposts of this story, the 20 member HFC =/= the people that voted for him.

We would love it if you all will stop recruiting us into their fanclub by association because we are not going to participate in some batty plan to turn the government back over to the Dems because some single-issue butt hurt.

Trump ran as a 3rd party candidate. Not as a ideological lapdog.

That is why you have a massive list of things he has done for the right (conveniently forgotten be the whiners) and some issues he is at odds with.

And if the right is too sensitive to have him be at odds on some things to the point where they will run crying and “stay home” while being handed a huge series of victories, then they need to get their heads examined.

He is going to fight for his position where he differs. No shock there.

Seeing W strolling hand in hand with the Saudi king like a couple of high school sweethearts made me wretch. I never looked at him the same again. Trump seems to be headed in the same direction. He needs to know his support can be lost.

Maybe the freedom caucus is not what they say they are.

Try to keep-up. Despite the fact that they have never accomplished anything but opposition, nor introduced a single piece of legislation. They walk on water. They say we can't dismantle obumbercare incrementally, and the reality is a stand alone repeal can not be done. In the end, single payer will be the result.

I’m not defending an ultimate result here which involves passing a more liberal bill with Democrat help. But I’m also not defending the freedom caucus blocking the entire agenda for a result which cannot possibly pass Congress.

He's not dogging them b/c they're conservatives, he's dogging them b/c they impeded his progress. I'm doubtful about his "three phase plan," but remember that he's results-focused, not politics/ideology-focused.

Trump is just trying to force a compromise because the freedom caucus right now is Holding Out for a bill which can’t get through Congress.

My wife had a boss of their department that would challenge everyone over and over again finding the ones who had backbone and those who were squishes. This would go on for a year or more and most people hate the guy. What he wanted was to find the people who would challenge his devil’s advocate stances so he could assemble the management and supervisory crew that he knew he could count on. Not saying this is what he is doing but it makes perfect sense now that he is finding out who the swamp creatures are and who the creature hunters will be.

“I guess all you Freedom Caucus bashers would rather that we left Eric Cantor in office”

We are better with a president that has gotten more done in one month, with zero congressional help, than all of the HFC worshipers have gotten from them, and the other so-called conservatives, from the past 25 years.

Congrats on picking off one congressmen though. That made all the difference. /s
